For my ethical leadership paper I choose the Boy Scouts of America organization. The reason that I choose the Boy Scouts of America was that I could not think of a more ethical organization than them. The reason that they are so ethical is that they train young men every day to put other people before there selves when they do community service. A very good example of this would be in 2008 four boy scouts were killed trying to help others before there selves when a tornado hit a camp site in Iowa (Del,J 2008). This show a type of leadership that many people would not understand unless they went through the program. To me this show true leadership because they put their lives on the line to save others. This kind of mind set is put into …show more content…
This is really cool because it teaches many young kids how too properly and safely shoot a bow and gun. Many people do not think that this is a good idea because it could lead to violence when the kid grows up. I personally think it is a good idea and it teaches the kids ethics on other thing like how to be safe around guns. In the article it talked about the relationship between the Boy Scouts of America and the National Rifle Association (Mechling, Jay). In the article they made it sound like only men could shoot guns and that is another reason people were against it because it made the young boys think they are better than girls. I think that this is a bad idea because even girls need to learn how to shoot guns and bows too. To me this teaches people how to be proper citizens in the …show more content…
I feel like that if everyone had the attitude toward life like a Boy Scout the world would be a better place because there would be less greed in the world. I feel like I could make my life better personally by trying to help others in need more than saying it is there fault that they are like this. Everyone has the same opportunity in life you just sometimes need to find the best thing for yourself. I personally felt like this impacted my life because now for the community service required I am going to go to the Ozark Food Harvest to try to help them give food away to the people in
“What leadership qualities should a chapter officer possess and which of those do you have. How will it help make a positive difference in the lives of Long Valley FFA members?” In today 's world the leaders are everything, from the president to the high school ffa officers. It is important to that are leaders have good responsibility and know how to make good choices.
The life threatening sacrifices these people make everyday show bravery and courage a person can have, just like
“Scouts Honor”, by Avi is a realistic short story about three kids that go camping all by themselves in the country. In the beginning, the three nine year old kids worried that they weren't tough enough,so they joined boy scouts. They all wanted to get to the next level in boy scouts, so they went camping all by themselves. Soon they discover that they didn't bring the right things to go camping with, they brought things like canned beans, with no can opener. A dull hatchet, and a whole mattress.
It shows not only how any service member should strive to be, but also how a person should act. The only way that Lt. Rowans actions can be properly conveyed is through this quote: "Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak." - Thomas
We wanted to see that in battle, soldiers will often suspend their own critical thinking and follow the lead of those around them in order to accomplish the mission.
It 's not just the soldiers throwing themselves on top of expositions to save other who deserves to be recognized as heroes, it 's about all of the small sacrifices they make everyday that show how truly brave our soldiers are.
I would like to start off by saying some thank yous to those who made this day possible. To my parents for the much needed love and support To my family and friends and to the people who helped with my eagle project And thank you all for attending my court of honor Over the past 13 years, scouting has taught me a lot of things that will stay with me the rest of my life. It has taught me, don’t use gasoline to start a fire.
A leader is able to gain an audience’s attention because of their personality, morality, and how they hold themself. It is important for a leader to be organized, compassionate, able to compromise but also be firm on what they believe, and be a person who people look up to and aspire to be. I was part of an organization called National Charity League and this organization helped grow women’s confidence, public speaking skills, time management, and organizational skills. Each month, each class holds meetings to plan and discuss projects that follow the class’s focuses. This past year Class of 2023 philanthropic focus is children, cultural focus is international food, and for leadership we are focusing on self care and reflecting on the NCL experience.
In the movie “I Am Alive: Surviving The Andes Plane Crash” (2010) there was an accident that brought down a plane that carried 45 people. They people on the plane had gone through great torment and could have all just gave up on life. But, in these trials what ended up being shown is the true leadership that all of the people who survived had. While there appears to be many traits of leadership all through the movie the most prominent traits were determination, the willing to take charge in times of great trials, and perseverance.
US Army leader is responsible for the subordinates well-being, performance and moral as well. Due to that, he must understand and feel their ethical standards which can vary person by person. The proper awareness of the soldier’s attitudes will help for the commander to know their limitations and to build the favorite climate within the unit. Moreover, it is vital to ensure that the same standards are applied to all the subordinates also. For this purpose the conventional ethical objectivism theory fits most.
Theories for ethical leadership can be divided into two areas, conduct, and character. The ethical theories are based on self-interest as opposed to the interest for others. Analysis by Ronald Heifetz (1994) explains leaders help followers address conflicts and help the follower resolve issues of change and personal growth. Sheriffs and police chiefs are leaders of the agency and should strive to set an example and lead others with compassion and humility.
Through the past 11 years that I have been an enlisted Soldier, I have seen the value of leadership and the effect good and poor leadership can have on Soldiers and
That is the wrong answer. Leaders should feel obligated to be the prime example and enforce the Army Values and Warrior Ethos not only thru their action on duty but also off duty. For example cutting edge to get the job done quicker is the wrong answer, it show that you don’t live the army values. It show that you have loyalty to you task, respect to the leader that told you complete the task, and the personal courage to do the right thing when no one is looking. Not only should a leader live the army values and warrior ethos while on duty but a leader should live them off duty.
He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent" (McCarther 2015). A leader should lead from the front and also have the ability to think quickly on their feet and take care of their Soldiers. Have faith and trust that the leadership is doing their best to keep everything in
What is Ethical Leadership some may ask. It is leadership that shows through the actions of having respect for ethical beliefs and values, and for the dignity and rights of others. Ethics is associated with the morals and values an individual finds desirable. It is a philosophical term originating from Greek word “ethos” meaning custom or character. While in the United States Marine Corps, the definition of ethics in an organizational setting was as follows:
