There are several ways that football has evolved over the years, including television, uniforms, training, methods and diets, and passing changes. In the early 1900’s people couldn’t just sit down on the couch and turn on the game by the click of a button. Fans could either watch it on regional broadcast, listening to the newscasts on the radio, or reading the newspaper the next morning to find out what the score was or what the major highlights were. Nowadays, more and more people are watching the game from the stadium, which can be very pricy, but most people watch it on the television with broadcasters and constant information about the players during the breaks. The uniforms have drastically changed. The players back then did not have nearly as much of protection as football players now have. …show more content…
Players now wear shoulder, thigh, and knee pads, along with heavy-duty helmets, durable gloves, that allow the players to have a strong grip when holding or throwing the ball, long-lasting shoes, compressive shorts accompanied by a jockstrap, and a mouth guard, which protects the player 's’ teeth from being damaged or knocked out when tackled or hit hard by another
American football has quickly become America’s favorite sport, nothing like turning on the TV on a Saturday or Sunday and watching some football with friends or family. Whether you love it or hate it there is no denying that football has become one of the most popular sports on the planet. Despite the controversy surrounding the dangers of football, it has still developed into a multi-billion dollar industry. Pretty much everyone has heard of football or the stars that surround it, but few people know how football got its start. Football is believed to have descended from the ancient Greek game of harpaston.
Football is the most watched sport in America (Paulsen, 2016). Football is also a very dangerous sport and a large number of injuries occur in the National Football League each year. Will Shields, a former National Football League player once said, “Football is a violent game. We are violent men” (“Will Shields Quotes”, n.d.). More than two hundred concussions alone occurred in the National Football League last year (Mukherjee, 2017).
This is one of the biggest advancements in helmet technology or one of the worst ones. In one perspective they provided more padding and protection for the football player. On the other hand it gave the players the ability to use it as a weapon on the field and gave them the confidence to hit other players with their head, where before they were scared to use their head. Once players found out they could use their heads they began to use it more often and in some instances these hits left players unconscious and concussed. Concussions are a bad deal in any sport and if a player is concussed and doesn 't say anything and gets another one it can lead to permanent or long term brain damage or in the most severe cases even
“Football is like life it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority.” - Vince Lombardi. With Football there are many positions offensively and defensively which are best to be known for playing or watching and especially coaching. Football started out as the AFL and then merged with the NFL which formed the Super Bowl. But let 's not forget the small amount of women in powder puff football. With football being so famous more and more rules are developed.
For example, better protective head gear and rules against head butting would allow less permanent damage and head-on-head contact. These changes could make the sport much safer for players, including young children that are being put in danger by playing football. The dangers of football concealed by the NFL were detrimental to the lives of many players, young and old, and their loved ones.

Having healthier more physically fit players also helps them because they are less prone to getting injured. When the players are bigger, they have more natural protection because their bodies have been built up and strengthened due to them playing the game for many years. This evidence of having better gear has helped lessen head injuries a lot over the years. As more rules came along, the gear also developed.
There were less offensive and defensive designed plays. African-Americans were banned from the NFL in 1933 to 1945. Most teams were run dominant so they rarely threw the ball. As years went on the NFL improved in numerous ways. Players had an increase in physical size.
If changes are made, the sport will be a lot easier to like and enjoy. More people will want to be involved in the sport and it will probably bring in more funds. Throughout the next years I think changes will be made to reduce head injuries. I believe the sport of football will be changed forever for the safety of the players. I feel like the new precautions are already helping reduce head injuries.
If American Football is an art, then its athletes paint with blood. This should surprise no one; the gridiron plays host to modernity’s most violent sport. In this unforgiving environment, it is all to common for former stars to flare out with career-ending injuries. As I kicked off my research on the National Football League (NFL), I intended to report on these injuries. With a premise on my mind and a paper in my sights, I headed to JumboSearch to begin my investigation.
Coaches number one thing they should do to protect their players is practicing “heads up” football. Heads up football is a practice of not lowering a player's head before they make impact. Players should never lower their head before a hit because if two players are going full speed at each other and they collide hitting heads they will most likely get a concussion from the impact. Another way players can be protected from getting concussions and head injuries is to have a good fitting helmet, good fitting pads, and a mouth guard formed to fit their mouths. Players equipment is the most important thing to keep them from getting injured.

League membership slowly evened out between the 1920s-1930s as the league took on a more official organization. Many changes came about following the war, such as the resigning of African-American players.
