The mental juxtaposition and deterioration between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth defines the inevitable decline and psychological problems associated with tyranny.
In the beginning of the play, Macbeth is depicted as a valiant and noble soldier. However, this begins to change when the three sisters are introduced. The three sisters deliver three prophecies proclaiming that Macbeth will first be the thane of both Glamis and Cawdor, and then eventually, the King. After this prediction comes true, Macbeth starts to contemplate the murder of king Duncan. His own thoughts alarm him. Macbeth is shocked at his reaction to this event.
Along with the three sisters, Lady Macbeth has a large hand in Macbeth's mental decline. Lady Macbeth stresses free will
Macbeth met an untimely demise because he believed the sisters and he let himself takeover his consciences The Weird Sisters were the main forces of the entire disaster. “Macbeth (aside) Glains Thane of Cawdor: the greatness is behind” (1.3.116-117). The Sisters controlled Macbeth’s dangerous thoughts through the play.
Macbeth’s soliloquy at the end of the play is filled with angst and desperation. The metaphors and similes throughout this monolog clearly express this. The metaphor,”Out, out brief candle,” shows his personal suffering and request for the end to come. The simile,”Life is but a walking shadow”, signifies that our existence has no lasting impression on the surrounding world. The final excerpt,“It is a tale told by an idiot full of sound, and fury, signifying nothing,” is the most impactful portion of the speech where Shakespeare shows the truth hidden in Macbeth's struggle.

When the universe's inhabitants follow natural law, the cosmos remains in equilibrium. According to Thomas Aquinas, when one acts in a way that benefits life, knowledge, society, and rational conduct, they are in unity with natural law; good is to be done, and evil avoided intentions, and their actions do not fulfill Aquinas's standards. The well-ordered cosmos chips away at wicked intents and subsequent actions that do not follow Thomas Aquinas's principles, such as murder for personal gain.
Although introduced as a thoroughly hardened, ambitious woman, Lady Macbeth’s seemingly unbreakable character shatters when she is consumed by the demon of guilt. The guilt of Lady Macbeth seems nonexistent when she persuades Macbeth to kill King Duncan, but the heinous acts she and her husband commit throughout the play strain her slowly. Eventually, the guilt Lady Macbeth harbors emerges from her subconscious and crumbles her. The downfall of Lady Macbeth reveals that even the toughest, strongest, and most powerful people can succumb to guilt. At the commencement of William Shakespeare’s
Of all the failures human beings experience none are as crushing as those that are a result of following someone else’s desires. In Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, the protagonist self-destructs because of his external forces as well as his own poor choices. An external force that influenced Macbeth includes Lady Macbeth’s strong goals, which she forced on her husband. Additionally, the witches impacted Macbeth’s choices by offering him their tricky prophecies. The blind greed that took over Macbeth’s life also impacted his choices.
Thesis: In Macbeth, Shakespeare’s juxtaposition of his characters’ “deepest desires” with their “false face[s]” furthers the motif of deception and treachery, setting the stage for Macbeth’s ultimate regicide. When the audience sees Lady Macbeth act like a traditional hostess despite her murderous desires, her treachery becomes amplified. Before Duncan arrives, Lady Macbeth is seen on stage planning to influence her husband, who is “too full [of the] milk of human kindness,” to change his nature and murder his cousin and king, Duncan (1.5.17).
Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare, it is thought to have been performed during the early 1600’s. It demonstrates the harmful physical and psychological effects of political ambition on those who seek power. An internal struggle is a “psychological struggle within the mind of a literary or dramatic character, the resolution of which creates the plot 's suspense” (dictionary.refrence.com). In the drama Macbeth by William Shakespeare one could go as far as saying that the internal struggle of the main character is the base of the plot itself. The entire drama revolves around the facets of Macbeth’s internal struggle and the actions which he takes as a result of this. Catalysed by low self esteem a struggle begins in which Macbeth seeks to be admired by attempting to take power in ways which conflict with conscience. This struggle is manifold and complex but for the purpose of analysis can be divided into three governing factors.
In our world, manipulation takes place in everyday life as a natural impulse for both men and women. In Macbeth, manipulation is centralized around the mask of ambition displaying dominance over humanity. Certainly the witch’s, Lady Macbeth, and our fallen hero Macbeth become puppets of Manipulation it self. Consequently the witch’s power to influence decision-making causes the initial deterioration of Macbeth, along with Lady Macbeth’s influential desire for the throne, and thus Macbeth use of manipulation to create a new embodiment of a mask suffused in ambition for his own cruel deeds.
If Macbeth had not have his own free will, they wouldn’t have all of these trouble. “Hell is murky!-Fie, my lord, fie! A soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account?-Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him” (5.1.30-34). Murder of Macduff’s family and Banquo has weigh heavily on lady Macbeth mind and become mentally ill and no doctor can cure her.
Macbeth begins with these witches relaying a prophecy to Macbeth that he will become Thane of Cawdor and soon after Thane of Glamis. You begin to analyze that Macbeth is this strong independent man, but as the play continues you start to see his true colors and that he is in fact an awful human being. Being a man you would think that Macbeth
At the beginning of William Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ the protagonist Macbeth is described as ‘brave’, ‘noble’ and ‘honourable’, however Lady Macbeth’s and Macbeths desire for power consumes them. Macbeth’s ambition overrides his conscience and transformed his greatest strength into his greatest weakness. Macbeth’s inability to resist temptations that led him to be greedy for power, Macbeth’s easily manipulative nature which allowed his mind to be swayed, Macbeth having no self control and his excessive pride was what allowed him to renew his previously honourable and celebrated title into one of an evil ‘tyrant’. Macbeth is led by the prophecies of the witches after they foretell he will become the Thane of Cawdor. Not only the witches, but also his wife easily manipulate Macbeth as she attacks his manhood in order to provoke him to act on his desires.
Ambition and self-fulfilling prophecies two seemingly unrelated things that are actually intertwined with one another. Ambition is the thing that drives many people to do the things they love. Self-fulfilling prophecies are a direct result of ambition by the person subconsciously doing things to get their foreseen future. These things help the advancement of people’s lives. It is part of life to want to succeed and have dreams be fulfilled.
