The fall of Rome was caused by many different forces but clearly the internal forces were most important. Firstly, too much money was being spent on entertainment and luxuries instead of the people’s safety, roads, and jobs. It became hard to travel because the there was no money left to spend on repairing the roads. Many people were illiterate, and it became an area of disorder and cruelty. Overspending also led to inflation, a bad economy, and poverty caused by over taxation. In addition, the government over taxed the Romans. A large amount of money was spent on entertainment and the army which meant that taxes had to be payed. People fell into poverty and were unable to buy goods.
