In order to keep power equally, the federal government had to come up with a compromise, of course, as we now know it wasn’t going to be so easy, in fact, It took many years and many political debates to come up with a compromise. The compromise would then split the powers in the National Government and the State Government. As they would describe it, the National Government had enumerated powers, the State Government had Reserved power and the two Governments combined had Concurrent Powers.

Because of this, they were able to control the power to trade within their state boundaries. This also helps because with trade because there were some unfair ways of competition or "deceptive business acts or practices". They were also able to establish local public-school systems. To this there were able to hire professional teachers to monitor and make sure the students understood the curriculum of the basic content. This type of education began to spread in the 19th century. While the first high school in the United States started in 1821. As we know from experience there are mandatory grades we have to attend in this time and day so we can succeed. The grades go through Kindergarten to twelfth grade. Then from there it is your decision if you want to get a higher education by going into college. Which can be both public or private. The previous governmental charter, the Articles of Confederation, failed because it was just too weak and wasn’t getting the job done. Under the Articles of Confederation, there was no court system, no chief executive, and there was no particular way for the central government to force states to pay their taxes. By creating the Constitution, it would build a stronger central government and would be able to hold the nation together.

This is evident in document A, where it shows you a Venn diagram of which powers are given to the states and which powers are given to the federal government. For one thing, this shows how “a double security arises to the rights of the people”, which means that when the power is distributed between the states and the federal government, neither is able to gain absolute power over the country. Federalism also comes in handy by specifying what the states get to control and what the national government gets to control, which is meant to prevent conflict between the two powers. For example, the task of declaring war is meant for the national government only. If that wasn’t specified, there would likely be a lot of cases where states declared war, and the national government had to clean up the mess.
If anyone was to do even a little research about the United States in 1787, one would find that the states were not very unified and life was not easy. Men like, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and George Washington had one thing in mind, to reunite the United States. The book, A Brilliant Solution by Carol Berkin, very clearly depicts the obstacles and adversity that the men attending the constitutional convention had to overcome. Therefore, power has been justly distributed between each division of government. Checks and balances are yet another form of separation of powers in the government. As the Constitution was initially written, there were checks and balances preventing any one branch of becoming too powerful. Since we still follow the same Constitution (with a few amendments) those checks and balances are still used.
The Government is the ultimate ruler of the people, sets the ultimate laws of the land and says what goes and when not pleased uses all the means in their power to influence. The basic functions of the United States government are listed in the Constitution. Due to the immense power of our federal government, people often argue that it is too powerful and should be lessened. Sub further the state governments use a sum of power to do the same. There has been an effort to shift power from the federal government to the states.
Enumerated powers, also referred to as expressed powers, are rules or powers given to the government. The enumerated powers are a list of things the government is authorized or allowed to do. The enumerated powers of the government are directly listed in the United States Constitution. The beginning talks about the specific powers the three branches can have such as what they can do and what they should look like and be like. Some examples of enumerated powers include taxing, regulating commerce with other nations, declaring war, creating post offices, and providing a Navy.
The public schools’ content, discipline, and amount of religiosity differed due to the early influences, general demographics, and the three sections. All states in America had free public schools by 1870, but attendance was not completely mandatory. The Constitution uses Federalism to equally divide power between the central government and state governments. Separation of power then divides the central government’s power into three branches:Legislative, Judicial,and Executive. Finally, Checks and Balances provides a way for each branch to control each other.
