With any good friendship, there are alway five traits that appear, they are allegiance redemption, empathy, shared ethics, and conscience. Those traits help guide a friendship to life long ones. Elaina isn't the best at making good choices about friends, relationships, or even just everyday tasks. I try my best to help her make right choices, though she doesn't always listen. She does heed my words now and then because she learned to trust me and understand I'm just trying to help her make good choices. For example, I told her not be friends with a certain person because I knew they were not a good person, she of course didn't listen and befriended the person. We had a falling out because I tried to warn her about them she ignored me and eventually just got mad. That person however did turn out to not be the best and she ended up losing her friendship. When she did make that mistake however, I wanted to say I told you so, I didn't though. I listen to what she said and I offered her a shoulder when she needed to let it …show more content…
With my friendship it not quite as great as Lennie’s and George’s but it does have some similar aspects. With Lennie and George on page three of the book “The small man sat nervously beside him. “Lennie!” he said sharply. “Lennie, for God’ sake don’t drink so much”......“ Lennie. You gonna be sick like you was last night.” In this passage George is warning Lennie about the water could be dirty. I feel like this scene relates to my friendship. We are looking out for each other in one way or another. She has my back and I have hers. We are there when we need someone and we try are best to be the best friend we good be. Even though we have our fights like every siblings do we always come together by the end of the
In this section of the book, George and Lennie were walking to their next job. After they had been walking for a while, Lennie started to get thirsty. Furthermore, the two men stopped at a dirty pond where Lennie
"An' why? Because...because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that's why. " This quote shows friendship the most. Friendship is one of the most important things throughout the book in the book George and Lennie are very good friends and they need each other to survive in such a bad area and jump from job to job "' Ain't many guys travel around together,' he mused. '
George takes care of Lennie. When George and Lennie left Weed they came across a pool of water. Lennie told George to drink some, but George did not want to drink because it looked scummy. George told Lennie you should never drink water if it is not running (3). George is trying to keep Lennie from getting sick.
A good friend is someone who is concerned for your welfare, who includes you in their life, and will be there for you in whatever situation. By these standards, I believe that George has been a good friend to Lennie in the novella Of Mice and Men by Steinbeck. We see that on numerous occasions George does all these things for Lennie. A bad friend would not care about Lennie enough to go through all George does for Lennie. Bad friends don’t care about what happens to you and George cares about what happens to Lennie.
“ A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself” (Friendship). Friends love each other and have the patience to love the person you are; following are two great example stories of this kind of friendship. Huckleberry Finn is a story of an orphan that wishes to be free from society; while a slave runs away and they both join together to achieve their dream of freedom. Of Mice and Men is based on two men that are trying to find work and survive; sadly many mistakes are made by one that causes many problems. We will compare and analysis who had the stronger relationships between Huck and Jim, and that of George and Lennie.
George and Lennie consider each other family, George is like a brother to Lennie, they have a companionship that everyone wishes they had. George and Lennie travel and work together. Although George promised Lennie’s aunt Clara that he would take care of him and feels an extent of burden; Lennie’s friendship helps George stay focused on their American Dream and keeps him sane. In one instance, George says, “I could get along so easy and so nice if I didn’t have you on my tail.
George and Lennie travel everywhere together, and depend on each other in times of need. In fact, George likes traveling with Lennie to an extent, “I want you to stay with me, Lennie”(Steinbeck 13). Unlike other farmhands, George and Lennie share a special bond, “‘because I got you
When confronted with the fact that George may abandon him one day, “Lennie says miserably, ‘George won’ go away’” (73). This quote shows how Lennie depends on George and his tone of voice suggests he already feels isolated knowing that George may be better off without him.” ” Lennie’s brutal strength also contributes to his feeling of loneliness, as he himself doesn’t realize his strength.
During Lennie’s and George’s travels Lennie says “Tha’s good," he said. "You drink some, George. You take a good big drink." He smiled happily. (4) This quote portrays Lennie looking out for George like a friend as he tells George to take a big sip.
You crazy son-of-a-bitch. You keep me in hot water all the time” (Steinbeck 11). George yells at Lennie for the trouble he constantly causes. George has to go from one job to the next and take care of Lennie all the time. He can not do what he wants because he has to make sure that Lennie is not causing any harm.
Concerning Characters Concern ranks in the top of characteristics for a true friend to have. People with this quality care more for others. The Bible says “That there should be no schism in the body: but that the members should have the same care one for another. ”(1 Corinthians 12:25).
A second piece of evidence that shows the reader the strength of George and Lennie’s friendship is when the George got mad at Lennie and the Lennie start to feel that he is useless then said “If you don' want me I can g off in the hills an' find a cave. I can go away any time." No—look! I was jus' foolin', Lennie.
The relationship between the characters George and Lennie is a strong example of friendship in this novel. George and Lennie had been friends since they were kids; Lennie has always relied on George to get him out of tough situations since he is mentally challenged. When George and Lennie had arrived at the ranch the boss was wondering why Lennie couldn’t speak for himself; and that is when George had to step in, “George said, ‘He’s my … cousin. I told his old lady I’d take care of him.
The Friendship of George George is a hard working man who relies on mental acuity to get the job. He has a natural leader feel to him because he commands all of the people around him. George is described as small man with dark undertones and strong and slender physical features. Despite his dark facial features, George is a man with a caring attitude and helps whoever needs him. George’s best friend is Lennie depends on him to know what to do and tell him what to do.
“Of Mice and Men” is the story of two men traveling for work, who when get to their destination are tested beyond their boundaries. The ranch in this book is a microcosm to America during the Great Depression. It’s almost as if they were facing their own depression but instead of money, what was lost was feelings. Throughout their time on the ranch, different themes approach the reader as they read about George and Lennie. This is what makes the ranch a microcosm.
