In my initial oral exam I combined both Glenn Beck and his co anchor's argument into one to better fit argument and doing so made it easier to form a structured idea of the fallacies involved using Toulmin’s model but also made identifying specifically Glenn’s fallacies difficult. Though it can be assumed that he agrees with the statements and analogies his co anchor was making as he used it as a jumping off point for his own final argument. Parts of the co-anchor's articulation are present in Glenn’s argument but in the exam I didn’t identify only Glenn’s ideas in the model. Specifically the grounds, warrant and backing were weakened as they were more closely related to his co anchor’s arguments than this own.
Identifying this error Beck’s argument based on the Toulmin Model (Foss 131-133) is as follows:

Finally Beck uses a straw man to find the weakest argument of his opponent and implies it to be an absurd and awful reasoning not taking into account any other points nor any other reasoning that might refute his statement.
Beck does not entertain the idea that while the argument he presented in opposition to anti abortion views, aborting a fetus conceived through rape because the fetus would share the rapists genes, could have other reasoning besides being from a eugenists point of view. He does not engage the understanding that while eugenists do actively trying to prevent the reproduction of people they believe to have undesirable traits not conducive to humanity through variety of awful tactics, the people who would reproduce are choosing to do so. He completely ignores the lack of choice and the violence associated with rape and that conception of a fetus was not the intent nor should carrying it be an outcome, especially not based upon the arguments he
Greg Olsen is entering his fifth season with the Carolina Panthers and become the most underrated tight end in the league in my opinion. He has no doubt become old reliable for quarterback Cam Newton to play breaks down or he just needs to find his rhythm. Olsen is coming off his best year as a pro with 84 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns that productivity resulted in his first Pro bowl selection. 2015 I predict much of the same especially with the loss of Kelvin Benjamin and the sudden inexperience at the wide receiver position. Thank you Chicago Bears for giving us one of the best tight ends in football much
Former NFL player Tim Tebow’s “faith-based, crazy fans” are to blame for his lackluster career at present, Fox Sports 1 host Colin said recently. During the Monday edition of “The Herd,” host Colin Cowherd said Tim Tebow’s career is hurting right now because of his “faith-based, crazy fans. While he praised the former NFL quarterback for his sports ability, he said no team would want to take Tebow right now because of his fans, Western Journalism reports.
Superman Learns to Read Four star general, Colin Powell once said, “Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and eliminate doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand.” His quote rings true for many elements that great leaders and strong arguments share. In order for arguments to be successful, they must be simplified, eliminate doubt, and propose an easy-to-comprehend solution. The argument must be simplified through clear and concise prose. The argument must acknowledge opposing views and void the opposition’s claim.
Also, while Thomson’s analogy does not truly work, the pro-life position is still not clear, because she is actually correct
During Dred Scott vs. Sanford (1856), Chief Justice Taney stated that “The words “people of the United States” and “citizens” are synonymous terms” and “The question before us is, whether the [people of African ancestry] compose a portion of this people.” He answered his own question with “We think they are not, and that they are not included, and were not intended to be included, under the word “citizens” in the Constitution.” In 1787, the Constitution was written. “We the People” at the time were elite white males. It didn’t include colored, Natives, women, or impoverished people.
This past week, Comedian Kathy Griffin has been facing some serious controversy regarding a photo shoot she participated in. In this photoshoot, Griffin was holding a bloody, decapitated head that was intended to look like President Trump. These photos have not only upset President Trump, but also his family and supporters as well. Despite the freedoms listed in the first amendment, what Griffin published was not justly protected by this amendment.
Despite being a realitively simple presentation, the argument is clearly a Toulmin argument. It's making an adversarial and challeging statement about the influence of corporations in America. It wants the audience to question their own stance, but it is not even attempting to stay in a middle ground where another point of view is given.
Another Falsified Rant by Tucker Carlson I am writing this letter based on the Fox News Article Tucker Carlson: This is the State of International Women’s Day To the Editor: As per usual, Tucker Carlson’s rant towards anyone but straight white conservative men can be proven to be far from the truth. When speaking about international women’s day, Carlson claims “That's the day we as a global community celebrate women, but if you looked closely at the women we were celebrating, you may have noticed a lot of them weren't actually women. They were lumpy-looking dudes, and that was not accidental.”
If life was not started at conception in these cases and scientifically the unborn child could not be having any thoughts or actions running through the brain the argument would be stronger to persuade the anti-abortion side. Personally, taking away an unborn living thinking fetus’s rights just because we cannot hear them or see them physically does not seem justified. In case eight I do not see how women can just say “well it is nice of me to share my body so I will or I will not because I don’t have to,” when they have a person breathing and thinking inside of them that could be the next inventor or great doctor of the world. For Thompson to be more persuasive to the opposing side she should try discounting life at conception and arguing how the fetus can not have thoughts, therefore it cannot have desires or rights because the unborn person is 100% reliant on its mother and therefore her right has to superior to the unborn child because this fetus cannot perform one single task without the help of its
Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.
Patrick Lee and Robert George assert that abortion is objectively immoral. One of Lee and George’s main reason for coming to this conclusion is that human embryos are living human beings. This essentially validates that abortion is indeed the process of killing a human. Another main point said by the two is a rebuttal to a common argument used in favor of abortion, which states that a potential mother has full parental responsibilities only if she has voluntarily assumed them. The rebuttal to this was that the potential mother does indeed have special responsibilities to raise the child.
I formulated this decision comparing my stance on why having consensual sex should result in permission of the fetus to use a woman’s body. Consensual sex isn’t a necessary act of survival like walking outside would be. Consensual sex is merely based off on wanting to experience a form of pleasure. The need for this pleasure is a weak justification to deny usage of another body when the fetus requires it. In other words, you can completely cut consensual sex out of your life with ease, and avoid the controversy over allowing permission for a fetus to grow.
I. Introduction Donald Trump: American Hero or Villain? For many Americans, Trump is seen as the long-awaited saviour of the nation. Others see him as the man to start World War III.
This argument preaches that women who have been raped have the “right” to have an abortion without being criticized. However, this is completely sentimental. If the rape victim decides to have the child anyways, there 's multiple emotional things that could wrongly affect the child. Often, a child produced from a rape will be put up for adoption, which can affect their future and attitude. In other cases,
(Tanner) Pro-choice defenders also say that it is the woman 's right to choose to have the baby or not, forgetting the baby 's rights. The life of a human being begins at the moment of conception, and it is not the fetus´s fault if the mother wasn 't ready to have a baby or if the situation in which baby was conceived wasn 't ideal. For example, if the baby is conceived by rape, the baby should not pay the consequences of other people, he or she has not done anything wrong .”Compassion for the mothers is extremely important, but it is never
