In previous years the United States have gone through some rough economic times. During the 1930’s the Great Depression occurred and the Great Recession occurred in 2007 and has helped shape the US into a better economy so that it does not happen again. When the economy falls during a recession this causes many things to happen in the as an effect. Unemployment rates rose increasingly. During the Great Depression the unemployment rates were at 25%, which is extremely high for that time, and the rates for the Great Recession was 9% which is comparable to then because there are more people in the world than there was at the time of the Great Depression. This unemployment rate affect many people causing them to lose their job and find new work even though it was hard due to the economy being bad and this makes things get worse and a worse till something comes along and changes the outcomes. Also both of the declines in the economy had warning signs that either the government or people who knew the stock market backwards and forwards knew that something bad was about to happen and there was no way to fix it because it had already gone too far in the hole for them to fix it without having a catastrophe of some sort.

Although both events are very similar in nature and where both apart of a recession in the business cycle they had some differences in how many people were affected and how they came to be in the first place. When reading the text “First Hand Accounts of the Great Depression” by Erin Cobb, it expresses what this historical event was. It is mentioned that “The Great Depression was a time of economic turmoil in the United States'' (Cobb). Following that, it is recalled in the text that people began to spend less, resulting in stores not being able to sell their goods. This also led to factories slowing down the production of goods. According to the text, “these were all signs of a recession, or a decline in the economy” (Cobb).
Throughout the many years of the Great Depression, the American economy plummeted greatly because of ongoing issues throughout the United States. The American market, and essentially continuously buying, are what keeps an economy in any country moving. The points at issue which allowed the economy to go down consist of three major factors. All three of these aspects took a great amount of citizens down along with all of their profits. Families, businesses, and employees struggled to stay standing during this time period.
Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Great Depression The Great Depression was one of the hardest times in History and Franklin Roosevelt was the person who helped America. Roosevelt brought about May new laws and an agency that was to help people. Roosevelt had the confidence to act when action was needed FDR set to work for those who had fallen onto hard time. By 1936 FDR inspired enough people to win the election the in inauguration FDR gave a perfect speech gathered cabinet and had them sworn in at the same time.

After WWII, society took a drastic change for the better in America.
