Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan. His parents where William and Mary Ford, he had four siblings. As a young child Ford was very intelligent, his dad gave him a pocket watch as a teen and he took it apart and reassembled it by himself. Ford was known for his leadership skills and mechanical ability. Later he was known as the watch repair man. He lived on a farm his whole life until his mother passed away in 1876, so he decided he didn’t want to live on a farm anymore. In 1879 he left home to go work as a apprentice machinist. After a while he moved on and started working for the Detroit Dry Dock Co. In 1882 he went back home. When he arrived back home he started working on the farm again. In the beginning the cars weren’t doing so well in the market and they where forced to close down.
