At the end of my sophomore year I decided to apply for Ambassadors for my Junior year. It’s a program at Poudre that goes into Freshman classes and teaches them about topics they usually won’t cover in normal school curriculum. I decided to join the program because I did a very similar program called WEB you could do in 8th grade where we went into the 6th grade classrooms and did the same thing. I was really happy when I got accepted into this leadership program because I had so much fun doing WEB. At the begging of the next year Ambassadors goes on a retreat together up in the mountains where we really start to bond together. A huge reason as to why we bond so closely is because of one activity we do at the end of the 1st day during that …show more content…
Many tears are shed and we all connect on a deeper level. Every other week we teach the kids about something different. All of the stuff that we teach them, we are also taught and are very knowledgeable with these topics. A few less emotional topics we cover are Acceptance, Goal Setting, ------A few hard topics we cover would be Sexual Assault and Harassment, Teen Dating Violence, and Bullying. For both the Sexual Assault and Teen Dating Violence Presentations we undergo special training from certified people. The Sexual Assault training lasts 8 hours while the Teen Dating Violence lasts ----. If you are an ambassador for both your 11th and 12th grade years you get an advanced training during the Sexual assault training that looks more into how this issue is present in our community today and how misinterpreted it is. Throughout the year I get to make strong lasting friendships with the Freshmen I teach through Ambassadors. My kids from last year hang out with me during Football, lunch and continuously talk to me on a daily basis. I believe that the best take away aside is not the lessons themselves but being able to connect and be a leader to the Freshman I
This semester I also learned how to word rules with right way more and how to be specific with procedures. I made a mock classroom policy about a year ago and after that lesson I made modifications to it. I got excited because it was part of our discipline 2, and I got more feedback on which I need another eye to look at for me. I took the comments and made more to policy and proud of my end product.
From this class, I have learned to work with other people, including students and adults, as well as leading a team, creating ideas, and problem
Through Honors Society, I have gotten to take on many leadership roles, including preparing and leading meetings, and developing our monthly schoolwide outreach to the school. By becoming president of the Honors Society for both my junior and senior year, I took those leadership
The National Honors Society is an organization consisting of outstanding students across the nation, and I am truly honored to be considered to join. Not only does this organization push students to succeed academically, but it also allows them to build character by taking part in their communities through leadership roles and service. With this, I would take advantage of all the opportunities the society presented me to build my own character even further. In my years of high school, I have shown that I am qualified to join the society based on my performance in academics, character, leadership and service. Throughout my years, I have been able to maintain a GPA at a 4.0, while also balancing my time with sports, clubs and a job.
My Values of becoming a part of the NJHS I am Lauren Forsyth and a student of Catonsville Middle School. I feel that I should be a part of National Junior Honor Society because of my dedication towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. The following essay will demonstrate how I have dedicated my time towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. As of 2016, I have dedicated myself to 47 hours of service learning and giving back to my community is a very important part of my life. In 6th grade I created a fundraiser to help breast cancer awareness to help find a cure for breast cancer and I had earned 5 service learning hours with two hundred dollars raised in total at my school.
Overall I learned different concepts that I never knew before. I learned how to better understand people and where they are coming from. In the end I got something out of the
I aspire to be in the National Honors Junior Society program. I wish to be accepted and it is an honor just to be invited to such a program. I have been looking forward to this program and being accepted shows me that I have achieved my goals to be the best student I can be. It means a lot to me as a student and on a personal basis as well. The whitcomb middle school staff has always encouraged me to R.O.A.R.
I have been considering and trying to aim for National Junior Honor Society since I have entered this school. This would be a wonderful experience if I could become a member of the National Junior Honor Society Chapter. Although, I am not involved in a numerous about of clubs or extracurricular activities in school. I am in a couple of organizations, do community work and work related jobs outside of school that demonstrates my skills, such as leadership and providing me experience. I like to make my community a place where people can get along and that it is comfortable for at least most people since not everyone will be like that.
I would tell freshman what I know I could have done better or known in high school. In other words, what I believe they will need in order to succeed. In class, not be afraid to ask questions, and establish good relationships with teachers. Good relationships with teachers helps when having a hard time in class makes problems easier to fix. I would say don 't be afraid to get involved.
In college, they learned to keep pushing and never let one thing knock you down. They have told me countless times of how they had to work to go to school and change how they acted around classmates. I learned that if my dad didn’t have that degree I wouldn’t be writing this journal entry right now. It made me appreciate what I have and try to give to others that need help. Encourage people to shoot for the stars and attend that class because something as small as money for a bus ticket can change a person’s
I learned what it took to be successful, that I couldn 't just go through the motions. I learned one of the most important lessons of my college career thus far, and it is this- in order to be successful here (at Texas A&M), you must immerse yourself in every lesson, every lecture, every class. Everything must be 100%, and not a second should go to waste. Each moment is a moment to learn and to better yourself and your knowledge. There will be concepts that you just don 't understand, and when that road block is reached, immediate action must be taken; there 's a commonly spoken line that I never really listened to until recently, and that line is, "don 't be afraid to ask for help!"
I like the idea of being in a small class with students who are just as driven to succeed as I am. Not only that but I feel that having the challenge of applying learning to the real world will help me better my understanding of the material
Students will learn and comprehend the importance of college, which will motivate them to graduate high school and start their journey after. Knowing about all these things are important benefits that students will learn from attending and participating in these types of
It is really crucial at this time that they learn the important lessons of principals such as perspective or appreciation, and in my opinion,
These range from the National Honor Society, Student Council, and Beta Club. These clubs have given me the opportunity to practice my leadership by chairing service projects and contributing my ideas to better the school and the community. They have also allowed me to serve others through tutoring, donating, and
