On April 4, 1968, Dr. King Jr. was assassinated by a sniper outside his hotel room in Memphis, Tennessee. His death, along with robert Kennedy was a major loss in Civil Rights’ leadership. Robert Kennedy was a former attorney general and presidential candidate who was assassinated shortly after winning California presidential primary with a campaign that pledged to bring the races together. After Dr.King’s death people to be shocked and outraged, resulting in riots in more than 130 cities. The death of both, Dr.King and Robert Kennedy, in 1968, caused a drastic loss of leadership for the Civil Rights Movement. However, seeing the blacks fighting for their civil rights, it inspired other groups to fight for theirs.
