Martian Luther King Jr. had people follow him to help get rid of racism. Adolf Hitler used groupthink by speaking to the crowd that didn’t like the Jews and thought that they didn’t have a reason to be on earth. He made people believe that was the right thing to do. David Koresh used groupthink by telling people he was the “Spiritual Heir” and people believed him so they thought it was the right thing. During the 1960s, the country was in upheaval which caused division between the government and the citizens. Two influential men of the South, George C. Wallace and Martin Luther King, cry out to America in favor of freedom, nevertheless their understanding of freedom of choice was conflicted. The Civil Rights Movement was at a pinnacle state when Wallace and King clarified their beliefs pertaining to true freedom and who was entitled them. The two contending views attempted to move the people in the direction which they believed was in the best interest of the country. The leaders decided to lead protests in favor of equality. This led to a lot of diversity between views. Violence broke out against the protesters but they were determined to fight for their beliefs. Peacefully protesting, completely avoiding violence, and accepting punishments, were all reasons these leaders’ movements could be considered successful today.

Martin Luther King and Transcendentalism Martin Luther King Jr. could be considered one of the more important historical figures in our county’s history. He was the leader of the Civil Rights Movement which took place during the 1950s and 1960s. His “I Have a Dream” speech spurred the end of segregation in our country and the beginning of equality between blacks and whites. Along with being a leader, he was also a Baptist minister, as well as a husband and a father to two sons and two daughters.
To change the world, one must use their words to give the sense that the change is for the better. Speeches by the leaders that influence today’s society and those who came before have been able to cause emotions in the people who listen or read them. To be able to make people feel things with your words is a skill necessary for those who want to change the world. Many movements was happening at the same and the most popular was African American civil Rights movement that started from 1955 through 1968, and the Women's right movement from 1960s to 1975. Both movements had many similarities and differences and have affected socially and politically the United States .
Martin Luther King, Jr. attempts to persuade clergymen to follow in his civil rights movement through exhibiting his knowledge over just and unjust laws, displaying peaceful behavior, and empathetic diction. King was very knowledgeable about laws and his right as a human. King stated laws in his letter to the clergymen, which displayed his credibility. He did not only state laws, he also stated just and unjust laws. King stated, “How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others?”

During the tumultuous period of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 60s, the goal for bettering the lives of African-Americans was desired by many. However, the means of attaining that goal, varied greatly among the representatives of the movement. The African-American civil rights efforts were spearheaded by men of peaceful protest for integration, such as Martin Luther King Jr., and in contrast leaders such as Malcolm X who expressed separatist ideals. Other groups of civil rights advocated took an outright violent approach, such as the Black Panthers.
Because Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man; she started a revolution and the fight for equal rights for black people. According to the author, "after Parks refused to move, she was arrested and fined $10. The chain of events triggered by her arrest changed the United States," (ushistory.org). When she was fined, a lot of events had stirred up. Her arrest had made a lot of the African community mad.
Today, leadership is considered to be more art than science. Equally observable is that those who engage in leadership invoke a variety of leadership styles and traits that can vary greatly, and yet can be equally successful in a variety of situations. No one could deny the tremendous leadership skills of Martin Luther King, but at the same time, for example, do not highlight the skills and success of General Schwarzkopf in crushing the army of enemies. As is generally known, the personal motives affect the leadership preferences. For example, some people choose adventurous and strict leadership style, while the others prefer peaceful and continuous.
