Juliette Gordon Low is one of the most significant figures in the history of the United States. Due to her contributions to the American Scouting movement, she is celebrated as the founder of Girl Scouts in the country. Her parents were William Washington Gordon II, and Eleanor Lytle Kinzie. Named after her grandmother, Juliette was the second born to the family of six children (Wadsworth, 2012). The father was a cotton broker in Savannah, while her mother was a writer. The family was a significant contributor to the founding of Chicago, especially her father who was working in the cotton industry (Cordery, 2012). This background gave Juliette a foundation to study and emerge as a disciplined child.
Despite the background, her father was involved in the confederate army during the Civil War in America. This affected her upbringing as she was largely brought up by her mother in the childhood life. They later married and life took them to London where they leased a property. However, their marriage was marred by separation and went south due to the infertility of her husband. All the time she was lonely, she spent time perfecting her art of metalworking and woodworking (Corey, 2012). At this time, she spent time assisting the need and doing works of charity. After the death of her husband, she spent more time in charity work and learning her art in wood and metal.
It is during these charity works that she met Sir Robert Baden-Powell, one of the founders of the scouting movement. Baden-Powell influenced her life and inspired her to start the scouting movement for girls (Wadsworth, 2012). The mission of Girl Scouts of America is not just for the Girls future, but for their community and family to come together and realize what needs to be done in the world. Girl Scouts guide the girls to become better versions of themselves and maybe even the best for their futures. They teach them responsibility, respect, courage, confidence, and they help the girls find themselves and what they want to be. This organization has many spectacular qualities.

Soror Peyton the third Eastern Region Director, 1936-1945 and under her administration, Zeta thrived. Their aunt and Father thought it would be a good idea for scout to have a feminine influence in the house. As stated by their aunt when she was talking to Scout. “We discussed that it would be best for you some feminine influence . It won't be many years, Jean Louise before you become interested in clothes and boys” (170). What she was saying was that Scout will need another girl in the house instead of two guys to talk to.
