The main character, Macbeth, is a tragic hero whose ambition leads him to commit heinous crimes, which ultimately lead to his downfall. Throughout the play, Macbeth attempts to control the future and bury the past in various ways, which ultimately contribute to his tragic fate. One way in which Macbeth tries to control the future is through his attempts to control the future is through his interaction with the witches and manipulation of the prophecies given to him by the three witches. The witches prophecy that Macbeth will become the Thane of Cawdor and later the King of Scotland. Instead of letting fate take its course, Macbeth becomes obsessed with these prophecies and tries to ensure that they come true. His conscience and determination don't allow to stop him from murdering and dedicated to being happy with himself as a murderer. Due to Macbeth's ambition and paying no attention to natural order and justice, Scotland keeps falling apart. Later in the story, Macbeth gets challenged by Macduff driven by revenge and a desire to return justice to Scotland. Macbeth ends up getting beheaded by Macduff.

It is often that in both life and fictional literature those with the character to look for the answers to the future seek some immoral means. In Shakespeare's play, The Tragedy of Macbeth, Macbeth is portrayed initially as a valorous and good-hearted general to King Duncan, but who later is corrupted by ambition. He persuades himself that killing his king to take the throne is the right thing to do. Macbeth's monstrous quest begins with a prophecy told by three weird sisters. These prophecies were that Macbeth would become the Thane of Glamis but also the new Thane of Cawdor. Ordinarily, Macbeth and his friend, Banquo, were skeptical but later were then told something shocking. As the prophecy said, Macbeth became the New Thane of Cawdor which makes his interest grow even further.

Inspired and driven by the prophecies made by the three witches, Macbeth goes on to kill the king and take the throne.
In the play The Tragedy of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare a character Macbeth was told he was going to be king and he did everything in his power to make it happen. Macbeth tries to control the future by listening to lady macbeth and takes matters into his own hands to become king he did unspeakable things to make sure his prophecy came true. Macbeth allowed Lady Macbeth to convince him to not wait around to be king and take action to make certain that he will become king. In the play, Macbeth attempts to control his future many times. He does things that he probably should not have done, which then causes many more issues; he feels the need to try and correct them. Throughout the play, Macbeth involves many people in things that he forces them into doing by scaring and threatening them. Throughout the play Macbeth has many people killed in order to benefit him. He doesn’t believe that anyone knows what he is doing, but as people find out he begins to send murderers after them.
Then, once Macbeth becomes King, he allows Lady Macbeth to hide any evidence of his actions, and allows her to convince him to carry on when he is doubtful. When Macbeth is plotting to kill Banquo and Fleance, he tells Lady Macbeth that he is worried and feels like his mind is full of scorpions. Lady Macbeth answers, "You must leave this," (3.2.36) and "But in them nature's copy's not externe. " Once again, Macbeth capitulates and carries out with the plan. He is constantly exhibiting his cowardice by surcoming to all of Lady Macbeth's arguments.
The witches influence Macbeth’s decisions, however he is still responsible for his actions. The witches meet up and deliver the news of Macbeth being represented as the future Thane of Cawdor and King of Scotland. Macbeth, doubting if it's true, believes in their prophecies after Banquo delivers the report that Macbeth has just been named the Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth reacts, “Why hath it given me earnest of success, Commencing in a truth? I am Thane of Cawdor: If good, why do I yield to that suggestion.”

Despite the influence of Lady Macbeth and the witches' prophecies, Shakespeare depicts Macbeth as he is in control of his own destiny, satiating his desire for power through his wicked deeds and interactions. Oftentimes, one's behavior is fueled by their true motives regardless of outside manipulation. Such is seen by the measures that Macbeth comes up with and carries out, as his hunger to gain and maintain his power pushes him forward. Prior to the murder of Duncan, Macbeth thinks that “whiles [he] threat, [Duncan] lives. Words to the heat of deeds too cold breath gives”, and he decides to “go, and it is done” (Shakespeare Act 2.1 73/75).
He showed the King of Norway who was boss and made the king surrender. King Duncan recognized just how courageous and loyal Macbeth was he decided to make Macbeth the Thane of Cawdor. When macbeth runs into the witches, they tell him he will eventually become King. He then is overjoyed to become king, but starts to think about killing King Duncan because he is not next in line for the throne. “If it is evil, why has it given me a pledge of future success by telling me the truth at the outset?”
