Although there are many ways of online communication, texting is the most commonly used and abused. Teenagers are becoming too attached to texting and don’t recognize the ways that they are slowly being affected by texting too often. Car wrecks happen every day because of drivers, specifically teenagers, who are too busy texting to watch the road. Grammar continues to go downhill, and face to face social interactions are becoming less popular. If people would take their eyes off of their phones and stop texting, they might realize that life is too good to waste their time
In the essay “What adolescents Miss When We Let Them Grow Up in Cyberspace” by Brent Staples, the key point in the essay was that teenagers lose the joy of growing up without internet. Teens are missing the little things in life that make the biggest impact. Lets not forget about the good things that internet can do for us like: pay bills, meet new people, or even sharing pictures on social media which you can do from the comfort of your own home. These kinds of interactions can become highly addictive, but it keeps everyone connected. Brent Staples brings in real life experiences into his article that cannot be compared with from by the internet.
Abstract: This project was based on body image and social media. There are several articles which state that social media plays a huge role in the influence of young adults and the way they see themselves. The reason i did this is to show the impact either being negative or positive on the understandings of body image on young adults and that social media plays a role. The research methods used were primary and secondary as i need existing data as well as gathering new data, both were qualitative research.
Social media and social networking sites (SNS) have greatly impacted everyone, especially among adolescents. It has come to a point where social media has become a part of them as it is what they will do on a day-to-day basis without fail. Social media and social life is a cause that makes young girls feel different about themselves and wanting to change the way they look. In today’s generation, there is a lot of young teen girls that are very self-cautious about their body. Stuff like this only happens because they see girls who eat so much but never gain the weight, they can fit in anything they find at the mall, boys/men prefer them more than thicker woman, etc. This pressures females to stop eating, instead of them to stop eating what they can do is eat and ignore the fact that they’ll gain weight. Eating is just a way of life and it’s something that keeps us alive.
Do you ever think about the negative effects social media has on our youth? Everyday social media lowers a teenager’s self-confidence. Teens today are more focused on social media than their school work. Online predators are all over social media looking for their next victim. Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter can cause teens to fall into these negative situations.
The Misconception Behind Stress and Anxiety Stress and Anxiety levels have increased in younger generations immensely over the last decade. Social media is a huge contributor to these extremely high levels that teens are now suffering from. Social media is now everywhere all of the time. It is known for being glamorous and a place to show off how good one looks. The problem with this now is the constant pressure for the youth to have to be perfect.
Living in the modern era makes social media become part of our life. Basically, social media are used for communication and social interaction. How Social Media Can Effect Some have it and others don’t, but it’s a must have. Social media is a huge trending topic right now it helps you keep up with the latest fashions, newest songs, friends and family far away, and even gossip that’s going on. Even though people can do all this with it, social media also effects teens’ identity because people can see what others post and can choose to comment either positively or negatively. Teens are so caught up into their social media sites these days that they post all day everyday about anything from being personal problems to what they’re eating for dinner.
Picture this, you lay there in your bed, trying to sleep, you hear your phone ding and instead of ignoring it, you jump out of bed and check what happened. Before you know it, you see sunlight outside, you realise that you've just spent the whole night reading your notifications. You jumped out of bed at the first chance to get that fake satisfaction. Chances are, you have done this before, as with a lot of others. Social media networks are harmful to our society for many different reasons, such as lowering your self-esteem, time wasting and safety on the web.
