My clinical rotations presented unique opportunities to improve an existing workflow for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) rounding with an electronic hand-off tools, to present a proposed premedication protocol for premature infants undergoing non-emergent endotracheal intubation, to provide evidence-based recommendations on post-operative pain management for infants after surgical procedures, and to conduct multiple educational sessions for pharmacy students and residents, medical residents and fellows, clinical pharmacists and other health care providers.
Besides being well-experienced in the clinical settings, I am also proficient in the areas of operational and administrative. During my administrative rotation, I implemented an efficient IV workflow technology for the technicians, facilitated an installment of the automated medication dispensing cabinet in the NICU, provided in-depth tutorials on the dilution of selected medications to the neonatal nurse practitioners (NNPs), and participated in numerous administrative decision-making sessions with my Operation
During the year 1982, Dr. Kathleen Holland decided to open her own pediatrics clinic in Kerrville, Texas. She would need help to run her clinic and so she hired licensed vocational nurse, Genene Anne Jones. Jones had been employed by a hospital prior to working in Holland’s clinic. She was a nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Medical Center Hospital in San Antonio. Her peers began to notice that more of the child patients were dying only during her shift.
My role as a patient advisor with Kaiser Permanente began in 2010 after the birth of my daughter. I was induced and spent 6 days in the hospital and during that time my family and I experienced wide fluctuations in the level of care and communication provided by the various healthcare professionals attending to us. At the end of my stay, I shared my observations and perception of the labor & delivery and postpartum hospital experience with the department administrator and ombudsman. Upon providing my feedback I was impressed with the reception I received. My input was welcomed and embraced.
Ambulatory care settings are often the first places where patients discover why patient’s chose Bellin. Bellin has illuminated my professional career, advocating for patients and families within my current ambulatory setting position, as evidence in finding a personal passion in supporting a pilot refill team as the lead registered nurse coordinator was on maternity leave. This previous experience has given me the insight to further challenge myself. I will have participated in a BNU evaluation to identify the accommodations I need to be successful on a job. If necessary, I will have worked with a division rehabilitation specialist with BNU. I will have cooperated fully with all job development and job placement activities, so I can obtain a job.
I’m applying to Northern Arizona University to further develop myself as an ecologist. My passion for wildlife, especially herpetofauna has been in development since my youth. This passion has later transitioned towards a vision to conserve natural resources for future generations to enjoy. I believe that I have an amazing ability to find cryptic herpetofauna in diverse environments, and enjoy physically demanding fieldwork. When searching for rare individuals, I am motivated by the increased difficulty of the search.
