Mathematics is a science that helps us recognize, classify, and explore the hidden things of our universe(McGinnis). Focusing on areas as different as planetary motion, animal markings, shapes of viruses, or figure skaters, and the very origin of our universe. Mathematics is the most powerful tool available for revealing the underlying structure of our world(McGinnis). Thanks to mathematics, mathematicians have been able to discover many things such as the uncontrolled storm of noise in the nerve cells of the brain during an epileptic seizure(McGinnis). Math plays a vital role in the healthcare system. Doctors and nurses utilize math when they write prescriptions or administer medications. Also, Medical professionals use math when drawing …show more content…
Inductive reasoning is the process of arriving at general conclusions based on observations of specific examples(McGinnis). Inductive reasoning is used in the healthcare system to generate a possible hypothesis or educated guesses about a certain patient or medication. An example of Inductive reasoning would be “malaria causes a fever in all cases of this disease. A physician observes a patient with malaria, then the physician concludes with absolute certainty that the patient had, has, or will develop fever during his illness” (Kyriacou). However, this statement is not valid because even if a physician observes a patient with fever, the physician cannot conclude with certainty that the patient has malaria because there are many other diseases that cause fever. Even if the physician worked in Africa and had previously identified several consecutive cases of malaria in patients with fever, the physician could not be certain that the next patient with fever would have malaria …show more content…
From the beginning when a patient is presented during his medical treatment until it ends. This is because the services offered to patients incur costs. The treatment that is practiced is according to the condition of the patient. This means that the doses that are administered are calculated according to the weight, age, among others of the patient. It is also necessary to mention quantity of medication and the time for which it is going to be prolonged. In addition to these calculations are added medical insurance covers that the patients have, which part covers the medical insurance and which part is the responsibility of the patient. If these costs exceed the patient's economic status, a payment plan is established, which will be subject to the amount and dates of payment until it covers the costs. This means that knowing the mathematical concepts is extremely important, especially in the health system. In conclusion, without a vast knowledge of mathematical concepts the health system could not work. It is vital to know the basic mathematical concepts to make a correct calculation and provide the best healthcare possible to each
The nurse stated that pain is assessed every four hours using the pain scale of 0-10 and that once pain medication is administered to the patient then is should be re-assessed and documented within one hour of the patient receiving the medication. In this instant, the
Because these cannot be proved they have put natural causes as a possibility much like Malaria and Typhoid Fever (Alexander
A Physician Assistant is a health awareness proficient who should authorize practice pharmaceutical as a major aspect of a group with doctors. Physician Assistant are concerned with forestalling and treating human sickness and damage by giving a wide scope of medicinal services benefits under the supervision of doctor or specialist. They lead physical exams, diagnose and treat sicknesses, request and decipher tests, create treatment arrangements, perform techniques, recommend solutions, guide on preventive social insurance and may aid in surgery. They work in healing facilities, centers and different sorts of wellbeing offices, or in scholastic organization, and activity independence in therapeutic choice making. Physician assistants practice
Reason is a form of human trait to give an explanation or a justification about a certain behaviour or event. It is also the ability of the human mind to think, understand and form judgements logically. There are 2 types of reasoning; deductive and inductive reasoning. Deductive and inductive reasoning are based on logical arguments. A deductive argument is when both premises are true that provides strong support for its conclusion, which would then be illogical for the conclusion to be false while an inductive argument is when both the premises are true and are supposed to support the conclusion, it is debatable that the conclusion would be false.
In the Mental Health treatment we can distinguish to different approaches to patient treatment/models of treatment , firstly we have a medical model secondary we using person recovery model. Medical model in the mental health, is mostly concentrate on the treatment of the physiological aspect of illness, this model is use at the inpatients admissions, by psychiatrist overall in the clinical /medical settings. There are many definitions of term “Medical Model” suggested that it is a ‘scientific process involving observation, description and differentiation, which moves from recognising and treating symptoms to identifying disease aetiologies and developing specific treatments, some professionals also describe medical model as ‘the predominant Western approach to illness, the medical model drives the
Introduction The field of healthcare involves decision-making in every sphere of its life cycle. Decision-making can pose a challenge in cases where there is less or negligible domain-specific knowledge. Although there exists ample amount of understanding of the way the healthcare domain works, it has its share of uncertainties and complex situations that call for an explicit understanding of the relation between various occurrences of events, likely causes and effects that govern the domain. In such cases, experience plays a crucial role in assisting the decision-making process, and one such approach to medical reasoning is the Case-based reasoning (CBR) approach, that uses previous experiences to solve new problems.
K&U5- Diagnosis of malaria Early and accurate detection of malaria is required to make sure that the patient is treated in time and also to prevent further spread of infection within the neighbourhood through local mosquitoes. If diagnosis and treatment is delayed, it may increase the chance of death of the patient, therefore malaria should be treated as a possible medical emergency and health practitioners should know how to diagnose and treat malaria instantly. A health practitioner should know what the signs and symptoms are of a patient infected with malaria.
Treatment is the act, manner or instance of treating someone or something. Treatments also include substance or varied methods used in treating illness. People not only treat themselves with different methods, but also with medicine often used to gain good health. Everyone wants to look young and beautiful forever .Today there are all kinds of treatments people use in order for them to maintain their beauty.
Ever since my grandmother died with lymphoma, I have been very interested in biology because I want to find a cure for cancer. Before going into biology, I did not think that biology involved math skills, however, it did not take me long to learn that it is very important to have a good understanding in math to do well in a science course. As I began to exceed in math, I began opening doors to other career options that involved math. Also math has influenced me to look at life from a different perspective, a more mathematical
A good reasoning is a reasoning that leads to certain, true and valid conclusions. There are two kinds of reasoning, inductive and deductive reasoning. Both processes include the process of finding a conclusion from multiple premises although the way of approach may differ. Deductive reasoning uses general premises to make a specific conclusion; inductive reasoning uses specific premises to make a generalized conclusion. The two types of reasoning can be influenced by emotion in a different manner because of their different process to yield a conclusion.
Personal Statement A frail little girl, who had contracted Malaria upon leaving her country of Nigeria, arrived to America with her family in the year 1996. That little girl was me. Upon my arrival, I received immense care and support from the doctors and nurses of Oakland 's Children 's Hospital. My doctors informed my parents that we came to America just in time to receive proper treatment.
It also has a lot of extensive laboratory work which is a key aspect of psychology, which has allowed me to hone my practical skills to a high level of precision. This in turn will help me conduct research for my dissertation as well as any further research. By studying Maths, it has allowed me to develop analytical and problem solving skills. There are various ways of solving a mathematical problem, however each method has its pros and cons, which I believe relates to how there are various approaches to psychological disorders and that different approaches have its strengths and disadvantages.
The Validity of Inductive Reasoning Knowingly or not, just about all humans live their lives under the Inductivist presumption, using their past experiences and observations to navigate the future, assuming the regularities which have always held true will continue to do so. Skeptics of this are the Counter-inductivists, who point out that using the past to predict the future is not a logically sound method by offering an opposite conclusion. Counter-inductivism seems somewhat silly at first glance, after all, what reason do we have to believe things should radically change from this point forward? This viewpoint arises from an observation on how we construct theories from the data we have collected.
Julian is able to recognize which patients, and which of the three divisions: gastroenterology, cardiology, and oncology is using more of a variety of resources, since some patients do require more medication, lab work, and therapeutic treatment, based on the patient’s diagnoses. The information from the third system will provide Dr. Julian the ability to recognize and distinguish that not all patients require the same amount of care, some patients due to their diagnosis require different level of nursing care, some more than others. With this third approach Dr. Julian will be able to have a more precise cost of care service given to the different patients based on their necessities. The information provided by both second and third system will provide Dr. Julian with a more efficient way to control costs. She will now able to see the differences in costs among the divisions using the second and third approach.
In the world today, it is often easy to get caught up in the idea that mathematics decides the way all of nature works. The very language that people often use to describe mathematical patterns exudes a certainty that “we have it all figured out.” In ancient times, Pythagoras held that “All is number” (qtd. in Tallis). This idea continues today in an extreme form with thinkers like Max Tegmark who holds that the universe is composed of numbers and humans are merely characters in the mathematical simulation (qtd. in Tallis). But (even if one does not hold to quite so extreme a view) does mathematics describe the way the universe works?
