Before taking writing skills two I 've had a positive mindset towards writing because I see it as a way to express my thoughts. For example, whenever I feel a bit melancholy writing a short story or just free writing always makes me feel a bit better. On the other hand, I don’t believe I’m the best writer because like every other student I make mistakes in my writing. Although, I don’t take the editing negatively I always look back at my past essay and try to reflect on them to see how I can always improve my writing skills. Overall, I have a pretty good mindset towards writing even though I have my mistakes I know if I study harder I can become a better writer over time. Being a part of this course has helped me improve my writing in different areas such as my grammar, editing, and planning. Being that, when I got back my teacher 's essay edited the first thing I noticed was all my grammar and my paragraph structure were all off. As a result, after I turn my essays in I always review my paragraphs and sometimes I even ask my friends to read over my essays to see if I need to improve either my paragraph structure, thesis or conclusion. While I did learn some good ways to plan out my essay like for example free writing, and outlining I still feel as if they don’t work well for me. Although I have trouble getting my essays started, I still learn other ways to plan my essays from chapters in Building Writing Skills The Hands - On way textbook and also The Mindtap online homework. For example, I 've gotten many ideas like rain dropping, a simple list, and using a web. Overall, I’ve had an easier time typing writing my essays without having any problems with the new skills I learned from the book and online

I do realize I have a lot to learn but anytime I write better than I did the essay before that is a success. So, to any future students if you are here every day and participate you will be successful this class is organized to make sure when you start writing the essays you are well prepared from all the invention techniques. I feel my style has broadened because every essay I write feels easier and more professional. My attitude about writing is better as well I am no longer afraid of writing an essay or communicating via email with another professor or some other professional resource.
After finishing my AP language class last year, I was brain numb to writing essays. After taking this class, I've rediscovered my love for writing. I felt that in the past, I would simply write papers just to get them finished and didn't take much pride in them. Since I am not writing a paper every week, when we do write papers, I feel like I can take my time on them to make sure what I am saying is coming off exactly the way I want my readers to see it. This skill is helping my develop my own style of writing which is something I constantly strive to be better at.
When I think of myself as a writer, I think of a writing struggle. I struggle with getting things done by the deadline, there are times when I feel “on top of the world” this is when I write my best, and there are times when I can’t write at all, I just feel like dying. I went through a lot during Junior year, and it resulted in me being very depressed; which really affected my ability to write. I hate writing when my heart isn’t in it when this happens it leads me to procrastinate, waiting for a spark of motivation but, during Junior year I realized you just have to fake it occasionally and write with only your intelligent mind. My Junior year I decided to take Mr.Davies Dual Enrollment English class, a college level class.
This semester, in Introduction to English Studies, I took part in various types of assignments that are found within the English major at Eastern. These assignments, while not in-depth, were meant to exercise my analytical, rhetorical, and creative writing skills. Every student has their own writing process. Writing process ways is the student's way to have the best writing assignments and make who ever read it understand their main idea. In this essay I am going to explain my own writing process for various type. In chapter 4 by Keith Hjortshoj “How Good Writing Gets Written” which talks about how should develops their writing skills and gives them some tips that they should use in their writing process.
In my previous grades, my teachers always focused on grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary words, but they never once taught the students how to write an essay. School was difficult for me because of this. One teacher specifically, Mrs. White, helped me learn everything I know about writing essays in my seventh grade year of junior high school. After having her class, I feel significantly more confident about writing and I have her to thank for that. Being in the seventh grade and not knowing how to write was a big deal for me, I was embarrassed.
As a result, all of the essays have improved my writing. Including each essay, each assignment has a certain structure that needs to be followed,
As a writer one of my two strengths are coming up with a story. Whenever I write I tend to have an idea on how I want my story to start and finish. I imagine what I want to write by putting my story in point form, gathering the necessary research before I move to completing the story. I feel organization and planning is important and effective to have a good essay. Every time I write I am constantly proofreading my work.
I don’t remember the first time I had to write an essay, but I do remember it was very complex. I wasn’t aware of the initial step to assembling and article. Once I began I would start to erase all of my ideas and start all over again. I knew what I wanted to write but I couldn’t put together my ideas! Throughout my school years I have adapted more with the writing procedure.
The comments from my instructor, the online material, my research, the online writing center and comments from other students in the discussion boards have helped me so much to improve my writing skills. In the writing process, the step that I feel I have improved a lot is editing, as I am constantly reading my writings and editing them as I finish them, over and over again before I publish them. The steps in the writing process that I like the most are finding a topic in the Pre-writing step and Drafting. I like having a lot of ideas floating around and think about which idea is the best and the most exciting topic to talk about.
My Writing Experience In previous courses, my writing skills have been mediocre or just enough to pass the class. Throughout the duration of this course, I have written a variety of papers using different techniques and skills. Previously I would write assuming that the only audience would be my instructor. This course has helped me realize that there are many steps and skills involved with writing a well-organized and easy to comprehend essay.
When I was younger, my mother was always working and was really busy so she never had the time to help me with anything school related. At the time, when she was working we lived with my grandma, my grandma wanted me to be the smartest I could be and not struggle with my reading or writing. So my grandma took it upon herself to help and teach me how to read and write. Although I still have a hard time in reading and I don’t like it as much as writing, what she did for me when I was younger had a positive impact on my writing and reading skills as I am getting older.
Before being in Writing 115, I struggled with doing different kinds of modes and inventions, and I feel as if I have improved on these areas and has made me an overall well rounded writer.
