Industrialization had a significant impact on the United States culture in the period from 1865-1898. This period saw the emergence of a modern industrial economy, with new technologies, industries, and business practices that changed the way Americans lived, worked, and interacted with one another. The most obvious and immediate effect of industrialization was the growth of cities. As new industries and businesses developed, more people moved to cities in search of jobs and opportunities. This created a diverse and vibrant urban culture, with a wide range of cultural activities and institutions. This included the growth of libraries, museums, theaters, and other cultural institutions, as well as the emergence of new forms of entertainment,
While America was still in the Gilded Age, the industrial boom of America happened right alongside. The years between 1865 and 1900 saw many monumental changes, including the exponential expansion of America’s railroad system. With government incentives of land and money, railroad companies worked hard and laid miles and miles of new track down on America’s land. Most notable of these track was the Transcontinental Railroad. With the government giving the Union Pacific Railroad and Central Pacific Railroad land and money grants, construction was finished with record speeds.

The beginning of Industrialization was a time of great economic growth and social change in the United States. Though The Gilded Age made America the leading industrial nation, this widened the gap between the rich and the poor even more. The Progressive Era came after and was defined by various reforms. The unionization of the government and the reformers was a very important factor during this time period.
The United States saw a major change in the economy and how goods were moved in the country between 1865 and 1945. The ending of the American Civil War allowed American innovators to begin work on new inventions that would change the American economy. The substantial change was the industrialization of America. Development of electricity and new techniques opened job opportunities in industries across America. The United States began to mass produce steel that was able to be used in the construction of major cities, use railroads to expand into the western part of the United States, and the standardization of money, roads, railroads, and laws surrounding quality of life.
During the Gilded Age many inventions were created. Trains were a booming industry that provided transportation and ways to get goods to other people. Factories were a huge part of the industrialization period because while yes they took away a lot of the labor jobs they also opened opportunities for women to work in the factories, one of the negative impacts that factories had on the U.S. was the child labor problems. Children would work in factories because they had small fingers that could get into the machines to repair them. One wrong move and the children could lose a hand.
Prior to the year 1890 the United States went through the era of industrialization. The era focused on manufacturing, and factory work which led to mass production. Industrialization caused the U.S cities and market economy to expand rapidly. Industrialization also shaped the development of a large working class, to provide work for the large industries. Workers experienced poor working conditions such as long hours, poor sanitation, and little pay.
Industrialization played a big part in the shaping of American society. This time period was considered the "Gilded era " from 1869-1901. There were both cultural and economic changes during this time, such as the transcontinental railroad, businessmen, the depression , and the living conditions of the lower class. The transcontinental railroad produced an increased demand in manufacturing since the businesses would now grow and trade in larger amounts.

Rockefeller owned the Standard Oil Company; he had 90% control of the world. Andrew Carnegie in document 18-4 states, “The problem of our age is the proper administration of wealth…poor and restricted are our opportunities in this life.” Carnegie demonstrates that most of the people living in this age were having bad conditions of life.

The industrialist Andrew Carnegie had one of the biggest impacts on America by far. Carnegie was responsible for the production of steel.
Without a doubt, industrialization was one of the biggest factors in how the United States developed. It gave us the means of mass production, better transportation, and eventually the consumerist society that the United States is today. Industrialization did drastically change American society, but did it change America for the better? Did it do more good than bad?
