Jackie Robinson is one of the most important people in the sports world that we have had the pleasure of seeing in the last century. He put his life on the line to do what he loved. No matter the color of his skin he wanted equality for all no matter the color of your skin.The commitment that Jackie Robinson gave to be the first African American in the Major League paved the way for other people just like him to be just as successful as him.
Jackie Robinson was an amazing athletic back in the 1940’s playing the game of baseball in the Negro baseball league. He went through many challenges while trying to be successful in the all-white league because they did not like the way he looked. Jackie wasn’t just good at baseball he was also good at basketball because of the weather where he played. He signed up for basketball just to stay in shape when it was cold outside.In addition, the author also quoted that “Jackie Robinson was the first African American to receive a contract to play Major League Baseball. This first break in organized baseball's segregation practices in 1945 paved the way for other talented black athletes to enter the sport. Robinson's flair, grace, and superlative athletic ability made him one of the top crowd-pleasers baseball has ever known" (McGuire). Chawick Bosman played Jackie in the 2013 movie “42”. For example the author writes “ The film, which features a relatively unknown Chadwick Boseman as Jackie and a relatively known guy named Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey (the force behind baseball's integration), debuted its trailers on the Facebook page” (King). They made a film showing how Jackie Robinson was living life right before and during the times he was playing baseball in the major leagues. Chadwick Bosman was the star of the film and it was to honor Jackie in his amazing ways. In addition, they also made a tribute to Robinson for example the author wrote “ There's a nice tribute to Robinson at the National Baseball Hall of Fame's website, including the text of his induction-day speech, some great historical photos, and even some audio archives” (King). They made a tribute showing how thankful we are to have witnessed his presents and so glad that he went through what he did to show that anything and everything is possible. They also showed him off with historical photos of him so we can always have a memory of him even though he is no longer with us. Jackie Robinson will always be remembered because of the many things that we have done to show that he has accomplished a lot with his life.
