JonBenet Ramsey
On December 26, 1996, Patsy Ramsey made a hysterical police call reporting her daughter, JonBenet being kidnapped. The search for JonBenet began when her mother Patsy woke up to a three page ransom note on the steps. In her frantic state, she rushed to her daughter’s room, where she was missing. After waking up her husband John, they called the police. Close friends and detectives rushed to aide the family. Within a few hours, her body was found in the basement by John Ramsey and Fleet White. During an autopsy, examiners identified the cause of death from a cranial fracture and possibly strangulation. The death of JonBenet grew great curiosity to the public but the Ramsey family maintained a want in privacy, avoiding most interviews.

Many people believe that because there was local pedophiles that an Intruder could have committed this crime. But with all of the evidence given, it directs more logical evidence for the murderer to be in the house. At the crime scene, there was left a three page ransom note. Most ransom notes aren’t more than a page because criminals wouldn’t want to risk getting caught. Also, when a biopsy was completed, JonBenet’s digestive tract showed she had previously eaten a piece of pineapple. On the kitchen table, there was a bowl of pineapple and milk with Burke’s fingerprints on it. There was always a cup of tea with Patsy’s DNA on it. These items were left from the night before the
Some think the family wrote the note since it seemed to have been rewritten several times, but the intruder was most likely trying to write the best paper without giving any hints to as who it might be. The note gave them the option to have their child returned as said by CNN Library,“JonBenét's mother, Patsy, says she found a ransom note demanding $118,000 for JonBenét's return,” ("JonBenet Ramsey"). The note had a time on it, the family couldn't call the police, but had to wait for a phone call. The majority think that since they never got a call, the family must have done it, but instead, it could have been the killers focusing on the escape. Hive provides us with key information about the note, “The ransom note warned the couple not to contact the police but to await a phone call between 8 and 10 that morning,” ("JONBENET RAMSEY").
When the police first arrived onto the scene of the murder, the child had not been found yet. They started to do a deeper look into the house when all of a sudden John comes up from the basement stairs carrying JonBenet’s dead body, despite being told if he did find anything to leave in its original placement. Obviously ignoring these orders, John even ripped off the piece of duct tape from JonBenet’s mouth. When John covered her dead body with a blanket and laid her down, this caused him to destroy some vital evidence that could've been found if he had not removed her from her original stance in the basement. The first police officer to arrive at the crime, Linda Ardndt, spoke out to the public about John’s strange behavior the day of the murder.
Some may find this piece of evidence not important, but the night of her death Jonbenet did wet the bed; Patsy HATED that Jonbenet was wetting her bed. That night she could’ve got so mad at her and accidentally did the deed. The ransom note was analyzed and Patsy’s writing was said to be a possible match to the note, but it was inconclusive. Patsy also found the note, which was placed on the back of the stairs (the part you see while walking up). This is odd because she claims to have found it while walking down the stairs and it would essentially be impossible for her to see the pages.
For example, they found cut up pineapples with Burke's fingerprints on it. On the autopsy performed on JonBenet, it showed that she has previously eaten pineapples before the time of her death. Burke, JonBenet's brother, claims he never even came near pineapple. Another piece of evidence that was found was blood on JonBenet's underwear. A DNA sample of the blood was extracted and tested.
First is that an intruder broke into their home, wrote the note, and killed JonBenét. Next is the mother Patsy, who might have had a motive of jealousy from the attention her daughter received, and thus killed her and had John help cover it up. Lastly, Burke may have unintentionally murdered his sister by hitting her with a flashlight after she took his food and ran, but John and Patsy staged it to be as if someone else had kidnapped and murdered her. If the crime scene had not been contaminated, if family and friends spoke to the police further, and if Burke would have spoken in depth about his childhood relationship with his sister – the investigation may have had further evidence to go upon. Nonetheless, the Boulder County attorney declared on October 13th, 1999 that there was not enough sufficient evidence to declare anyone as the culprit.
Perhaps even a family member of JonBenét Ramsey. It was around 5:00 a.m. on December 26, 1998, and Patsy walks down the stairs. She finds a two and a half page ransom note lying on one of the last three steps. This note is written with one of Patsy's notepads and a writing utensil in the home.
The first thing to be examined is the broken window in Ramsey’s playroom. Then the body of JonBenet Ramsey was discovered in a wine cellar in the basement also discovered by the body was a Barbie nightgown with the victim’s blood on it as well as a baseball bat and rope in a paper bag found in different areas of the house. Mrs. Ramsey found the ransom note by on the kitchen stairway of their home which indicated that JonBenet Ramsey had been kidnapped. Therefore, Mr. Ramsey had to pay withdrew one hundred and eighteen thousand dollars from his account if he didn’t do so the kidnappers would kill JonBenet Ramsey. JonBenet Ramsey was strangled and suffered a blow to the right side of her
Burke was said to have gotten up to get a bowl of pineapple the night of the murder. JonBenet then took a piece, which was found partially digested in her dead body after being examined. She was also found to have a fracture in her skull. It is believed that out of rage from JonBenet stealing this piece of pineapple, Burke lashed out at her and chucked a flashlight at her head, greatly fracturing her skull. She was found dead in a hidden room in the basement.
Police were called the following morning to report that their daughter had gone missing. Police found a ransom note demanding 118,000 dollars, this never came to a complete investigation. Later that afternoon Ramsey's body had been found under a blanket in the basement. The detectives didn't do such a good job with continuing this case. There are multiple theories to this case.
Police investigated and interviewed many people who may have taken part in the murder. The top suspects, her mom, dad, and step-brother all have reasons to commit this crime. Patsy Ramsey said that she found a three-page note left on the counter by JonBenet’s so-called kidnapper. The kidnapper asked for $118,000 and promised not to hurt JonBenet as long as they got the
Still to this day, the question remains: who was the killer? Many believe it is JonBenét’s own mother, Patsy Ramsey. There is numerous evidence that point to Patsy being the killer. There is a theory that JonBenét’s mother strangled her daughter after accidentally causing a serious wound to her head. Did Patsy Ramsey murder her own daughter on Christmas
JonBenet Ramsey who was a young loving beauty queen of Colorado, who’s live was taken way too early. JonBenet was murdered in her home in Boulder Colorado on December 26, 1996 at the age of six. After completing my research, I was able to make a prediction of who I believed murdered the incent child, and it did not take much research to see the mistakes made by the Boulder Police Department. The Boulder Police Department made numerous mistakes in the JonBenet Ramsey case.
After JonBenet’s body was collected, the investigators gathered the evidence. What they found made it seem JonBenet’s family were suspects. According to a documentary, the ransom note was written on paper that belonged to the Ramsey’s; the duct tape that was used to bind her was consisted with fibers they found on Patsy’s clothing. Patsy was being accused of writing the note herself. Handwriting experts stated that the note was in the tone of
JonBenet Ramsey was a 5-year-old beauty queen with a big personality who lived in Boulder, Colorado. She was murdered a day after Christmas in 1996. Her murder still remains unsolved, but there are multiple theories around her death. JonBenet’s unidentified murderer could have been a close member of her family or one of three other suspects that have some relation to her murder.
Over the next four years, officers with the Boulder Police Department worked diligently investigating the murder case, but were unable to come forward with definitive evidence on a particular suspect. There was evidence of fibers found on the duct tape used to bind the child which were consistent with fibers found on Patsy Ramsey’s clothing. Also the ransom note was written on the same paper which was owned by the Ramsey family. This caused the Ramsey family to be the prime suspects of the murder of Jonbenet, and it crucified their reputation in the eyes of the public (Biography.com, 2016).
