Introduction: personal statement
Throughout my studies, expanding my research skills in Architectural has, with time, grown to be my long-standing passion and obsession. The Architectural field, therefore, stands out as the perfect career path for me. Progressively, I have come to realize that modern life is founded on innovations in architecture, with constant developments in the discipline making our lives more expedient and lively. It is such a realization that has motivated me to conclude that contributing to the professional evolution of architecture will provide me with a feeling of fulfillment and provide me with a meaningful

Program will be the history of architecture and landscape architecture. This option will offer me a detailed study program that will prepare me to carry out research and teach in the relevant disciplines. The program focusses on architecture through different historic times as well as on the historic cultures, while especially emphasizing on understanding landscapes or buildings along with their designers in history as intricate and interconnected wholes that incorporate meaning, culture, function, tectonics and aesthetics.
The PhD program in history of architecture and landscape architecture mainly focusses on understanding structural designs and their historical contexts over time. New designs have been adopted since the onset of architecture, and thus, with the concentration of a history of architecture, new phenomenon and innovations are realized that would help in further explanation and address of other necessities in the same sector. A concentration in the History of architecture and landscape architecture as a course incorporates more than one element of

D. program, my goals in the short term will be to reinforce my technical knowledge and work on research that will enhance my skills in communication technology and extend the abstract understanding of utilization and generation of information. Upon completion of the Ph. D. program, my long-term objective is to get a research position in a learning institution where I will be able to share my experience and skills with other individuals passionate about the course. My extensive experience in the job market and exposure to numerous management disciplines will be a firm foundation for my studies towards my Ph. D. at your institution. Through the Ph. D in Architecture program I will be able to emphasize the application on quantitative and qualitative research methods at the peak of academic rigor. Further, upon graduation, I will be able to focus on crucial opportunities and problems experienced in the field of architecture, while at the same time generating original and long-lasting contribution to scholarly bodies as well as practical knowledge in architecture and associated careers. Finally, I will be better prepared to effectively share the results of my doctoral
Comparison between the Trinity Church and the Massachusetts State House Architecture refers to the process of planning, designing and construction of various structures such as building. The works of architecture can be seen as the cultural symbols as well as art-works. There are many historic civilizations and are mostly identified with the ability to survive the architectural achievements. History of Architecture Architecture has been in existence for a long period of time. Through the history of architecture, one is able to trace the changes that have occurred in architecture (Dowing 2012).
He was a talented architect and landscape designer, dedicated to experimentation and innovation architect in
Planning and designing are the figurative part of the construction process. Taking thoughts and ideas and drawing them out on paper in order to maximize the beauty that nature intended are all the first part of the process. Understanding what plants and flowers would naturally grow in a specific habitat, that they would not only flourish but also add a certain degree of beauty is very important.
Dorothy Livesay’s “Winter” and “A November Landscape” by E. J. Pratt are both short poems with similar tones and nuances. The two seem to be metaphors personifying the winter season with comparable themes. While both poems have a theme of captivity, “A November Landscape’ ends with a note of freedom and ‘Winter’ finishes with one of hopelessness. There are images of suppression to be found in these poems. In ‘A November Landscape’ we find phrases such as: “November came today and seized the whole…” and “...rain-winds patrol the earth…”
We review new and restoration projects. I study California Architecture when I volunteer to do an Historic Preservation survey of buildings from 1840 to 1940 for the City and County of Sonoma. We compile many books with historic details. By knowing the history of Architecture and People who contributed to the area we were able to move and save Historic Houses from demolition.
The need to memorialize events or people is complex; in some cases, monuments honor moments of great achievement, while in other cases, monuments pay homage to deep sacrifice. A monument 's size, location, and materials are all considerations in planning and creating a memorial to the past. In any case, the need to honor or pay homage to a specific person or event is prevalent within society. A monument has to mean something to the society it is place in. The location of a monument is perhaps the most important aspect of creating a successful monument to honor and show respect to a person or event.
The Wilderness of Death Summer camp is supposed to be a sunny, adventurous and fun time in a child's life, but not in Margaret Atwood's, Death By Landscape. Atwood tells a story of a women, Lois, that experiences the tragic loss of her best friend, Lucy, as a young girl. The story goes on to tell the effects the tragic disappearance had on Lois. In order to illustrate Lois’ symbolic death, Atwood uses the motif of landscapes as well as comparisons and imagery.
Through the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s he had work as a lecturer and teacher in a number of well-known Universities such as University of Utah, Princeton University, University of California, Yale University, University of Texas. During this time he also wrote many books about his philosophy as an architect and different aspects of a design process. Some of his most famous publications include “Water and Architecture” and “Poetics of
The development of modern day architecture is very fascinating. Even though it has a very significant difference to architecture in the past, it still has many similarities. Many famous buildings we have today still show the same basic designs. For example, the Lincoln Memorial is very similar to the Parthenon.
It contested the professions and the way it was taught. It turned away from conventional architecture and proposed more adaptive architecture that would accommodate the emergent needs of its users through a rebellious style in an age heavily influenced by pop- culture and Dadaism. It redefined architecture and embraced a criteria o perishable yet indefinite, multifunctional space that was applied to new city models. It emphasized a vital support to culturally changing mechanisms of the city and not simply functional organization of space. The radical ideas experimented with spatial, creative, political and consumer freedom that surfaced in the 1960’s.

Utilizing that knowledge in architectural and urban design can guide architecture towards a more humane experience.
Tectonics is defined as the science or art of construction, both in relation to use and artistic design. It refers not just to the activity of making the materially requisite construction that answers certain needs but rather to the activity that raises this construction as an art form. It is concerned with the modeling of material to bring the material into presence - from the physical into the meta-physical world (Maulden, 1986). Since tectonics is primarily concerned with the making of architecture in a modern world, its value is seen as being a partial strategy for an architecture rooted in time and place therefore beginning to bring poetry in construction. Tectonics, however, has the capacity to create depth-ness of context resulting in the implicit story being told by the tectonic expression.
These sensory signals have a large impact on our relationship and experience of an environment because they are able to physically and emotionally engage and connect us to the architecture. Although these types of sensorial qualities may not make or break the successfulness of architecture, they must remain of high importance because of their ability to reinforce an individual’s personal connection to a place. Juhani Pallasmaa, claims that our design culture has forgotten the importance of the senses in engaging our whole being- physical and emotional- in an architectural experience. This theory speaks to an experience that goes beyond a visual relationship between a person and architecture.
The research need, aim, question, objectives and an outline of the overall research design are summarised. The chapter concludes by outlining the overall structure of the dissertation. 1.1 The Nature of Architecture as a Profession To understand the significance of role of client and critical impact of architect- client relationship in the design process, one needs to first understand the nature of architecture as a professional activity. Architecture has been described as a combination of art as well as craftsmanship, social science as well as engineering.
