Nature versus Nurture is an age old debate in Psychology. Nature vs Nurture relates to an individuals behaviour and characteristics and whether they are inherited through their DNA and genes, which can be seen as an innate approach to the debate. This is because innatism believes that the mind is born with all knowledge.Nurture states our behaviour and characteristics are learned through our environment and experiences, This therefore can be seen as empiricist approach as empiricism states that we are born a blank slate and everything we know is learned through our senses. Reproductive behaviour looks at how patterns are established and formed to continue the survival of humanity. Reproductive behaviour can fall under either Nature or Nurture …show more content…
As there isn’t one particular reason why a human may be homosexual, There are theories why homosexuality occurs in behaviourism, social learning theory and psychoanalysis. Social Learning theory suggests sexuality is learned through symbolic interactionalism and there is three parts in shaping sexuality , our social norms and history, our relationships and a persons expectations. The seduction hypothesis is also part of social learning theory and suggests that an older person may seduce a younger person into homosexuality. this is because social learning theory states that our peers influence our behaviours due to this many homosexuality trials in the Victorian era across the UK including one which led to the imprisonment of Oscar Wilde were influenced by the seduction hypothesis. Although there is no evidence to support this hypothesis it even influenced UK Legislation from 1988 until 2003 , banning state schools from teaching children about homosexuality. This legislation was brought into act when homosexuality was against many social norms due to the increase in the HIV/AIDS virus, this legislation was therefore seen as an attack on the LGBT community. Freud's psychoanalytic theory also attempted to explain homosexuality Freud believed that the root of all behaviours were due to our unconscious minds therefore homosexuality can be due to negative childhood experiences such as a negative relationships these experiences are then repressed in our unconscious mind. Freud stated these male homosexuality could be caused due to a father being distant from his son or closeness to a mother. Overall, psychoanalytic theory suggests that our behaviour is influenced by two motivations that ultimately create conflict within an individual the “Thanatos” creates aggression, sadism and our fear or death, In contrast our “Eros” which creates love,
D1/D2/A1 This piece of work will be focusing on a child aged 18 months starting a nursery day care setting. The two key issues that will be looked at in this assignment will be planning, preparing and reviewing for the child to settling into the setting. Secondly I will be looking into the child’s emotional support that the child may need when starting the setting, along with the attachments of the child that will need to be built or have already been put in place. When planning for a child to start a new setting there will be certain things that will need to be taken into consideration, for example; the child at hand may have never been separated from their primary carers beforehand.

CM ask Ms. Footman was happen she say that anything was fine in her unit, however based on CM observation , the bathroom tub was wet , signs that someone recently took a shower but the floor was dry. Ms. Footman denied having any flood in the unit at that moment. On 11/27/16 CM went to conduct the Safe Sleep inspection with the DHS Compliance Analyst Jeanette Chirico, while in the second floor we went to unit #222 assigned to Ms. Tiana Footman and her three children.

Infections: Needles are a big hazard if not thrown away after use. If they are left lying around someone else it can pass on symptoms if they someone who used it before had diabetes or maybe even HIV, it can even cause an infection. This is a health hazard. Another hazard is if there is no hygiene in the hospital, someone could become seriously ill. For example if nurses or doctors don’t wash their hands after helping another patient and then move on to the next, the patient could catch something.
At the meet last night, Bella wasn 't feeling well and I kept her home from school today due to symptoms of stomach flu. It 's looking as though she will miss school again tomorrow, so she will also miss practice. If the symptoms subside and she starts to feel better she will be there. She started feeling ill on the bus heading to Jarrell yesterday.
To begin with, the writer proposes the main contention in the first paragraph—‘Homosexuality is abnormal and hence undesirable’ (Levin, 1997), which is a conclusion drawn by various premises. At the beginning, the writer adopts the theory of natural selection and applies it to the development of sex orientation in human. Natural selection is described as a process in which only selective characteristic of organisms that can increase an organism’s chances of survival are preferentially propagated to the offspring, hence allowing the organisms to adapt to the environment (Encyclopaedia Britannica, n.d.). According to this theory, every body part we possess has its own function defined by nature to favour our survival. The writer then argues
The legislations, policies, processes, and code of practices have established the responsibility of employer in the regulation of social care worker. These standards are being set at the national level as they require the social care providers to comply with them. The codes are important step in the introduction of the system of regulation for the social care within four countries of the United Kingdom. They are required to ensure that people working as social care providers are required to understand their responsibilities. They are required to be provided with the appropriate training to handle vulnerable groups requiring assistance from social care providers.
The debate regarding innate behaviour and learned behaviour is one which has caused great discussions amongst psychologists and often polarises opinions. At the crux of the argument lies the issue as to whether humans are born with certain characteristics or behaviours, or whether these are learned; hence the common phrasing the nature/nurture debate. There are two types of behaviour: innate, and learned. Innate behaviour is instinctive, natural behaviour that is present at birth. There is certainly evidence to suggest that some behaviours are innate.
David Halperin is a Social Theorist who is one of the more known researchers when it comes to the study of proving that homosexuality is in fact acquired after birth. “Halperin believed in Planophysical theory. This theory believes that homosexuality is a freak of nature, an error” (Heffner). Halperin strongly believes that homosexuality stems from one child’s hatred of the same sex parent not being resolved, thus, ending in a favor attraction of the same sex. According to Christopher Heffner, Halperin’s theory involving failure to resolve an individual’s Oedipal issues is actually looked down upon by the psychological community as for most believe homosexuality is derived from one’s genes.
Lead scientist on, “the largest study in existence of a so-called ‘gay-gene’”, Alan Sanders, stresses that homosexuality occurs due to a variety of factors (Pink). These factors include “genetics, upbringing and environment” (Pink). While Sanders does mention that genetics factor into homosexuality, he also states that his study, “did not identify a single gene which...caused homosexuality”(Pink). Due to the existence of outside forces influencing the act of same sex relations, the belief that one possesses no choice in the matter does not make sense. As a matter of fact, the concept of sexual orientation as a whole, “can refer to a set of behaviors, to feelings of attraction, or to a sense of identity” (“Is…”).
The nature vs. nurture debate centers on whether human behaviour and personality are inherited (nature) or acquired (nurture); in other words, whether a person’s environment or a person’s genetic inheritance determines their behaviour and personality. Goldsmith and Harman (1994) adopt a neutral position, in which both nature and nurture influence people, stating that they “believe that the fundamental issue concerns the interplay between characteristics of the individual and of the relationship” (54). Goldsmith and Harman discuss temperament and attachment for infant, with temperament being linked to the nature side of the debate and attachment being linked with the nurture side; as a result, the infant’s temperament influences the attachment bond between the infant and the mother, but the attachment bond influences the temperament of the child as well. Therefore, both nature and nurture interact with each other to produce people’s behaviour (Harman et al. 54). Andersen and Berk (1998) take on the nurture perspective, while Leary (1999) claims that nature is the determining factor of a person’s personality.
Do you ever wonder how you act the way you do? Nature vs. nurture is a discussion about whether genetics or parenting have a bigger impact on your personality. Both nature and nurture are important in how you act. Identical twins have many differences. There are many ways nurture can affect a kid 's personality.
Two predominant social theorists on homosexuality that I read about and I found their information very interesting was David Halperin and Jean Foucault. Both Halperin and Foucault believe that the environment may contribute to a person’s homosexuality, but their ideas are very different. Halperin believed in Plano physical theory, this theory believes that homosexuality is an error. Halperin postulates that if a child have a strong mom and weak dad, who has unresolved Oedipus complex, will eventually lead to a weak and homosexual son.
Nature and Nurture Influences on Child Development Karla White ECE 205: Introduction to Child Development Instructor: Alesia Lane October 2, 2017 Nature and Nurture Influences on Child Development Describe the relationship between nature versus nurture. The nature vs. nature debate is the scientific, cultural, and philosophical debate about whether human culture, behavior, and personality are caused primarily by nature or nurture. Nature is often defined in this debate as genetic or hormone-based behaviors. Our genes determine the different traits that we have, such as eye color, hair, ear size, height and other traits.
