in History and Liberty’s graduate program will serve as a respectable and valued stepping stone on my way while allowing me to continue my professional career and support my family. This is invaluable to me as military service member serving in the United States Navy Reserves and a secondary educator in the world of professional development. As a student I enjoy research and have a thirst for knowledge however I also enjoy serving as a contributor to that research as well. During my undergraduate time at the University of South Carolina I elected to write an undergraduate thesis on Theodore Roosevelt’s Great White Fleet predicated on the fact that I truly enjoy research based learning. As a historian I believe that we should not only be able to be regurgitate information but also contribute to our field through the creation of new content and information we uncover through academic and field
I have chosen to apply to Covenant College because I seek a deeper relationship with the Lord that transcends into every area of my life, and I believe that I can facilitate that growth with the Christ-centered curriculum and community Covenant has to offer. I see the importance of being a witness to Christ at a secular university, but during my college education I want to better equip myself to proclaiming Christ in my profession and day-to-day living. Throughout the next formative years of my life, it is important to me to surround myself with young people who serve the Lord. Encouraged by conversations with my admissions counselor and information on the website, I believe I will easily mesh into the dynamic that exists at Covenant and cultivate lasting relationships. In addition, I tremendously value access to nature.
As a History-Profession major, I can assure Chancellor Lecter that the history department has been neglected. Our computer lab condition is deplorable and there is barely any class room space. Our professors are working extremely hard and being over looked. The History Department and others like it, are important in the development of critical thinking among the students. When transition for a community of learning to a institution of business the need for critical thinking disappears.
After graduating from MHS, the next challenge in my mission to ascend from my circumstances was to become the best student at The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State). With consideration of my mother not graduating high school, it was imperative and self- driving that I reward her sacrifices by excelling in my academic career. Eager to outperform, consequently, I earned the Smeal Merit Diversity Scholarship for three consecutive years (Freshmen-Junior) at Penn State. This prestigious scholarship is only awarded to the top five minority business students at Penn State. In addition to my academic successes, I became very active on campus and served as a leader at the top of four different campus-organizations.
Attending your graduate program will be challenging to my current knowledge I have achieved in my undergraduate career. Although challenging, I am eager to acquire and improve my current intellect and emotional growth sharpened and supported by the program’s faculty. I grew up in a small oil field town surrounded by cultural diversity. This is an important aspect in my hometown; therefore, being immersed from a young age has instilled in me the importance diversity brings. Although I come from a Caucasian middle-income family, my heavily influenced Spanish environment has shaped my identity and behavior to cherish integration.
I will be graduating with a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University in December 2017, and I then wish to pursue an MSc degree in Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M University. My reason for selecting Texas A&M University is that the Department of Engineering is superb, a well-recognized history of academic and excellent research environment. Therefore, I will be able to reach my full academic potential in the Texas A&M University, which will enable me to become a highly qualified electrical engineer. I would also like to express my desire to complete a PhD program upon completion of my master’s degree, since I would like to begin my career with the highest possible credentials in my field of expertise. Moreover, professors,
These challenges should be addressed in a way that the benefit for the student is translated in a form of developing their historical
A recent edition to the timeline was getting back to school to finish my bachelor’s degree. An education, the most important thing someone can have, serves as a critical key to success. This class was step one of the climb to getting life, as I knew it, back on track. One thing about history that has been learned was that we do not want to repeat its negative aspects. These high and low points were a critical part of the learning process, which allowed for maturation.
All along, I have managed to maintain the principles of ethics and integrity, a strong sense of purpose, and morality, which binds me rigidly. Appointment as student leader in all stages of my school and college life has presented me with opportunity to interact with people, develop organizational and communication skills. My involvement with speech, debate and sports has made me more than just an academic person In the pursuit of excellence and with a passion to reach the highest skills in my discipline, I look upon University of Texas, Arlington a springboard to accomplish my dreams. This esteemed institution can serve as a ladder and enable me to achieve higher aims by providing me the most contemporary input and exposure.
As I think of the University of Mississippi, the aspect that most impresses me, and is an addition to my desire to immerse myself in this prominent learning community is the University's outstanding resources. I am very attracted to the opportunity to explore and learn at the University of Mississippi's science departments. Science has been my academic passion ever since I entered middle school. Since then, I have always wanted to get into the medical field to become a neurologist. I believe the brain is a black box with endless mysteries waiting to be explored.
I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
New York University specifically interests me because of the profound sense of unity within its diverse urban campus in New York City. The unique backgrounds of its community members creates a compelling dynamic in and out of the classroom experience. When searching for where I wanted to spend the next years of my life after I graduate, I never encountered an atmosphere so invigorating and so impassioned as NYU. I could want nothing more than to one day call myself a part of this motivational community, building relationships with people who share my passion for helping others and who will both value my talents as well as challenge me to grow. I particularly grew fond of the economics program as it is recognized as one of the best in the world
After changing my major a couple of times, I decided to make History my major, which was originally my minor. After that switch I began to thrive, academically and personally. Queens College is my choice for graduate school, because it has one of the most outstanding History and Library Science programs I know of. With my determination and passion for the field I have chosen, I am prepared to gain as much credentials at Queens College. I hope to work along with Queens College faculty such as, Dr. Joshua B. Freeman or Dr. Kara Schlichting, since they have both studied the history of New York City.
Fast-forward to the year 2022. The nonprofit tutoring organization I started as a sophomore in high school, which supports low-income families in the Chicagoland area, can expand due to the resources and experiences NYU has imparted to me as an undergraduate student. NYU’s commitment to research in financial fields, social internship opportunities, and a global academic scope allow for me to not only continue a dream I began at fifteen, but to open my eyes to new ways of approaching problems. To begin with, NYU enriches opportunities beyond the classroom by offering hands-on initiatives, such as the Stern Program for Undergraduate Research, which gives me the opportunity to utilize the vast resources available in New York City to conduct
Recently, President Nikias of the University of Southern California began his own humanities course at his university, teaching his own full course since his presidency at USC. He acknowledges the importance of liberal arts by saying, “Humanities teach you to read and to think and to self-teach, which are the most important things. I want to see if I can light a fire in the students myself. (Song, “USC”)” He is contributing to keep undergraduates majoring humanities at USC steady at 6%, avoiding the trend of the decreasing interests of humanities majors at other universities.
A dream of mine has always been to experience the world and use its full potential to educate myself and aid people around the world. As a result of my trips to other continents, I have been inclined to pursue a career that will transport me back, and empower me to improve the world we live in. The study programs and organizations that NYU has to offer will allow all of my ambitions to be fulfilled, such as traveling the world, becoming a superb business leader, and becoming a political expert. The city of New York is a headquarters for all of these interests, making my education here expertly catered to my passions and interests. It is evident that there are various study abroad programs that would fit my passions, allow me to expand my network,
