The life of a union soldier in the civil war is not easy, not only do they face the possibility of getting killed in battle, but their daily lives are full of hardships. They have to deal with hunger,bad weather, poor clothing, and even bordrem between battles. First, their woken at dawn to begin their day. They have drills in the morning and afternoon where they practiced for battle. Each of them have to know their place in the unit so the army would fight as a group. Fighting together and quickly obeying the commands of the officers was a key to victory. Between the drills, they would do chores such as cooking their meals, fixing their uniforms, or cleaning equipment. If they had some free time they might play games such as poker or dominoes. Then at night some of them have guard duty. This could make for a long and tiring day. …show more content…

In the Confederacy, African Americans were still slaves and they served mostly in labor positions. By 1865, the South allowed slaves to enlist but very few actually did. We do not receive equal pay or equal treatment. We are getting paid $10 a month, with $3 deducted from that pay for clothing—white soldiers received $13 a month with no clothing deduction—until June 1864, when Congress granted retroactive equal pay. As you think of union, you think of “together” or “as one” right, but I’m drained. I don’t want to go into the civil war but today is the day we start April 12th . I’m pretty sure we are going to win because we have better uniforms and weapons but i was completely wrong about that.We have fought 2 battles “The Battle Of Fort Sumter” and “The First Bull Run” and have loss.
