The first piece of evidence of courage in the poem is how the professor reacts to the threat from the kkk. After A professor joins a all black hospital run by all white employes he get threats from the KKK. The KU klux klan was a organization founded in 1866 that was based off of intimidation and violence directed at white and black Republican leaders. The klan has been split or jailed because of the actions of the kkk being referred as a form of terrorism but there are still people who think like this klan to this date. The threat that was given to the professor said that if you don't quit your job by tuesday we will kill you, so how the professor reacts and response to the threat is he stays instead of leavening and even goes to the extent of praying for the klan in hope that god would fix them and show them that what they were doing was not right and not. How theses actions show courage is because that if someone to threaten somebody and the threatener has a13 history of killing a lot of your race they would probably do what the thretener says but the professor did different he stayed because he probably felt that he was not going to let himself get kicked out of the position as
Courage is presented in many ways such as writings, paintings, speaking up, and previous sayings. A wise man, Muhammad Ali, once said, ”He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life”. To put it differently, it explains that if you don’t have the courage to stand up for what you believe in, nothing will change. The interview “Transcript of Full Joseph McNeil Interview” and the story “The Friday Everything Changed” both show this specific view on courage. This interview and story both show that if a person didn’t stand up for not just themself but also for others, the rules wouldn’t change.
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry Final Test One of the main themes in this novel was represented using the land. The Logans were fortunate to own their own land during these more racist and oppressed times so it was important to the family. The land could have been used to represent hope or the freedom the Logans had in the novel.

Throughout the story almost every important character has shown courage. Each character showed it in some different and similar ways. These actions are sometimes led to important events without telling you directly. The characters showed courage in a major threat to tell the truth. Without this the story would have fell into a much different path.
Courage is one of the defining elements of the human spirit. It is one of the driving forces of human progress. Without it, human beings would not be able to move forward and discover new things. It is through courage that humans ask questions and dare to seek the answer. Throughout American History, we see these examples of courage at work, but perhaps we see the greatest concentration of these events in the lives of the American slaves.
People do not get to pick the color of their skin, yet skin color has caused great hardship for people in the world. Nobody gets to pick who they are, what their race is or what kind of environment they will come into when they are born, if they could I 'm sure the world would not be filled with hate or or discrimination. The novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, by author Mildred D. Taylor, is an excellent example of historical fiction which despises the many struggles blacks endured in their fight for civil rights. There were many unfair schooling complications between white and blacks. During a conversation between Little Man and Miss Crocker, Little Man shows such disgust with Miss Crocker and argues with her book choice between the color
morrison. One important event was when papa, stacey, and Mr. morrison were going to vicksburg to shop, but on the way back in the storm, the wallaces came, they shot papa in the temple and then got his leg broken when he fell and the wagon rolled over it. But Mr. morrison had great courage and he stood up to the wallaces and scared them off because he used his strength to break one of the wallaces back, and severely hurt the others. Another act of courage or perseverance was when T.J. and stacey got into a fight, he was peerservering because he was threatened and almost badly hurt by one of the wallaces because he was drunk, and or he didn't want the fight to end. To them they thought it was funny.
Papa, in full awareness, went to stop a hanging for a boy he did not like because he believed that it was wrong. He knows what could happen, but he still is prepared to help T.J, a kid who causes trouble too much,
Per the Critical Thinking module, Intellectual Courage is a trait that involves the need to face and fairly address ideas, beliefs or viewpoints you may have strong negative emotions about or may not want to hear. Displaying this trait, means you’re willing to acknowledge that conclusions or beliefs can sometimes be false or misleading. This takes courage, especially if the penalties for not conforming to the status quo’ might be severe. Davis understood the dangers of taking such a bold stance against discrimination and segregation, but he was willing to risk his life to stand for what was right.
Courage is being brave and taking the risk of doing something. In the book Witness by Karen Hesse many citizens did not like African-Americans , Jews and Catholics. Leonora Sutter, a character in the book, is a 12-year-old who is African-American and everyday deals with many citizens not liking her because the color of her skin. Courage comes in many ways and Leonora keeping her head high and not paying attention to it is an example. There are many racist people in the town like the KKK.

In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Scout, Calpurnia, and Atticus stand out when courage comes to mind. These characters show courage in many unique ways with different situations. In the early 1930s, in the deep south, racial discrimination was a huge conflict, for example, the Jim Crows Laws were in play, and it legalized segregation between blacks and whites. Courage isn’t always shown in situations, but simply throughout growing up.
Courage is not cowardice. Weakness is not courage. It is not hiding in the shadows, or giving into fear. Timidity is not associated with it. Courage is not David running away from Goliath, or Malala Yousafzai not standing up for her beliefs on girls’ education.
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry was not the book I thought I wanted, but was instead the book I needed. The struggles of nine-year-old Cassie Logan and her brothers opened my eyes to the racial injustices of the 1930’s but also in present day. Overall, being confronted with difficult topics like racism, inequality, and poverty was truly challenging. For most of my life I’ve lived in a small town.
Whenever something great happens it can always be traced back to a specific person who is responsible for it. Courage is what fuels us to take that leap of faith. Some of the most influential people have the most courage, such as Martin Luther King Jr. They have taken the risks and haven’t been afraid to be the odd one out.
