Martin Luther King, Jr. originally born as Michael King Jr, was born on January 15th, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia to his father Michael “Martin” Luther King Sr., a Baptist minister, and his mother Alberta Williams-King. Martin Luther King Jr., also became a Baptist minister and later a social activist who led the civil rights movement in the United States from the mid-1950’s until his death by assassination on April 4th, 1968. Dr. King died far too young at the age of thirty-nine. King was the main activist behind the end of legal segregation as the president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, which practiced non-violence in everything they did, including the March on Washington in 1963. He is most known for his I Have a Dream speech, and because of history changing events like these King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. King skipped his first and last year at Booker T. Their first born son, Martin Luther King III was only 10 years old when his father was assassinated. To live up to his father’s legacy, he led the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and most recently served as the director and co-owner of the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change. Alongside him is his brother Dexter Scott King who was also a co-owner of the King Center. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr is known for his strategy of nonviolent civil disobedience, which he used to advance the civil rights of black Americans who had been treated as second-class citizens for more than a century. King was an American Baptist minister, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He was a man that persuaded people worldwide to follow him during the Civil Rights Movement. King was a very passionate, caring man. A great leader that pushed and motivated blacks to achieve equal rights for all.

Jr. was a grand influence. King made a lot of ever-lasting changes that still play a role today! Now black people have rights that may be not been achieved unless he was around.
