I have a dream shows how Martin Luther King Jr. is fighting for equality and symbolizing what it means to him. Martin Luther King tells how African Americans are treated. King describes how they want to be treated and how they intend to do so. King shows his beliefs and encourages people to follow in what he is speaking telling what he believes will happen if they do.
Martin Luther King tells how African Americans are treated “America has given the negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked “insufficient Funds”. King is trying to say that Americans signed the Constitution and the declaration of independence saying that “black men as well as white men would be guarantee the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” but yet it’s not put in to place. “Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and the Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote.”
King tells how they are treated and what they intend to do about it “We cannot walk alone. And as we walk we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.” This shows how king intends on getting what they want all …show more content…

“We must not allow are creative protests to degenerate into physical violence.” King always said there was a better way to do things then violence because of equality everyone is created equal. During this time king tells them do not drink from the cup of bitterness and hatred that there freedom will come and there will be a time for them.
In the I have a dream speech Martin Luther King is trying to show that no matter what as long as you fight for what you want and show everyone what you can do you can achieve it.
