Molson Coors Brewing Company has a leading impact on the world, both in its brewing capacity, and it’s around the globe reach. The organization as a whole is very large and very intriguing. Their style of business is unique to them and the success they experience is a part of it. These three separate companies were originally started by John Molson, Frederick Miller, and Adolph Coors (Molson Coors Brewing Company “Our Story, Our History”, 2018). Of course, from these names, we can see that some of the most famous beers today come from these early brewers, the Molson Canadian, the Miller lite, and the Coors Light. Differentiation is a style of strategy that utilizes advertising, product features, technology, etc. to make its brand stand out from the rest of the competition (Daft, 2016, p. 60). Being a beer company, it is pertinent that Molson Coors take advantage of any kind of advertising possible, considering the number of competitors there are in the beer world. Fortunately, Molson Coors does exactly that. In 2016 alone, they were the second highest paying brewery when it came to advertisements (Ad spend of beer manufacturers in the U.S. 2016, 2017). Coming in behind Anheuser-Busch, Molson Coors spent around $437 million on advertisements in 2016 (Ad spend of beer manufacturers in the U.S. 2016, 2017). This crucial spending on advertisements to showcase new products and services is precious to the brewing company. The more people that see the ads, the more product that is going to sell, and by making their product more unique and better than the competition, they will gain loyal customers. These loyal customers are what Molson is hoping to gain through their style of competitive strategy of differentiation.
