Having a positive attitude and good communication
As an educational assistant (EA) practicum student, the first strategy I thought of that can help me develop a good relationship with the students and staff is through having a positive attitude and good communication. On the first day, I arrived in school 10 minutes before 8 am, so I can prepare myself and check out the school. The learning coach gave me and my classmate a school tour. As we walk along the corridors, I try to familiarize myself with the school’s structure through listening to the learning coach intently and asks questions about the school. Also, we get to meet most of the school staff. Even though I was nervous, since it was the first day of practicum, I try to mask it by smiling

V. She introduced herself and she asked me what I want to do on my first day. I told her that I will make observations first and I can assist the class when needed. Moreover, I also get to meet the other EA in the classroom, Mrs. A. Since I was new, I do not have that much background and/or information about each student’s behavior and personality, I approached Mrs. A and introduced myself. I asked her if she can give me tips on who I should focus on. She was kind enough to let me know who among the student that I need to focus on. Therefore, it was easier for me to know who are the students I should mostly direct my energy into when it comes to assisting and supporting the teacher’s behavior …show more content…
A. and asked her what I need to do when the same situation happens again. I found out that it was not the first time that Student A. did that, and she is still trying to learn how to have a positive behavior. Moreover, it was nice to hear some encouragement from her. Causton-Theories (2009) suggested that “To sustain yourself as a paraprofessional, you need a network of caring support (p.114).” In school, I see Mrs. A (the EA) as my caring support. I find her friendly and approachable. Most of the information I learned about the students in that class was from Mrs. A. I would also like to note that I will share and discuss what happened to the teacher on
My attitude to team members and students is marked by respect and courtesy, and I am prepared to exchange viewpoint and ideas with all. Moreover, I enjoy sharing resources and gladly
By the end of the semester I had become far more confident with the material, and I had not received another thirty percent on a quiz. One day after class, Ms. Barnett asked if I wanted to stay after school once a week to help her organize the lab. I was excited that she had noticed how I had disciplined myself as a student in her class, and happily agreed to do so. As the year progressed, I developed an academic and personal bond with her; similar to the bond I had to my grandfather.
She is a person that is so focused on getting things done and making sure that her students were always exceptional. She is always there in your time of need and as said before her motherly instincts became present. A strong woman that is constantly on the go, does not have time to stop and smell the roses, because she has music to pick, classes to teach and minds to nourish. An independent woman who is a single mother of two that does everything for not only her children at home, but also for her other seventy-five children at school. Ms. B always manages to keep a smile on her face and doesn’t allow her students to see her in pain, see her cry nor see her too upset.
Freeman is a diligent teacher who works non-stop to make sure that every student understands the material she is teaching to their best abilities and always finds the time to work with students if they need extra help or clarification on an assignment. For example, just this semester a fellow student feel ill and missed serval classes, causing her to become extremely behind in the class, and worried that it would be impossible to catch back up. However, Mrs. Freeman stayed after class with the student on several occasion to make sure that she had all the material she needed to be able to complete all the missed assignments and to make sure she understood the material that she had
Julie and her approach to teaching and was both hooked and inspired. I loved that Ms. Julie took the time to inform students about her, while also taking the time to learn about each student. With such a large diversity, allowing students to get to know one another and feel comfortable around one another is an important factor for setting the standards for the year. While all students may be nervous on their first day, it is especially overwhelming for new students and students from other countries. By allowing students to share about themselves and things they like to do, Ms. Julie created a level ground in which all students were equal and could feel comfortable and safe.
It had been over eight years since she taught me but because of the impact she made on my life we stayed in contact and she knew of every club and every position I ever attained in high school. Mrs. Mackey was definitely functioning at the stage four level of teaching and she was a
One of my student’s whom I’ve been working with, April Garcia, started that she was struggling her math and reading classes. April Garcia is a very shy and introverted person who has a hard time advocating for herself. When I counsel April, I assist her with her self-confidence, collaboration skills with her peers and teachers, and help her come up with solutions. The classes that April was struggling with, I contacted her math and reading teachers so we can come up with a plan on how April can be successful in their classes. Her two teachers were very supportive.
We are more likely to give out information to one another if we have positive relationships. It is very important as a Teaching assistant and teacher that we understand what our expectations are in school. For example; when advising pupils to behave in a particular way i.e. being polite, courteous and having manners, it is important that we do the same so that we are giving out a good example to the children so they can follow. It is also important that we have positive relationships with parents as this helps to communicate which can help the pupils when parents and teachers are engaging. It is important that we build relationships with others in school so staff and pupils all get along better.
Build positive relationships with students will help establish a more comfortable classroom environment. Michie have put a great amount of effort at trying to get to know his students on a more personal level, such as through individual home visiting and personal questionnaires about each student’s likes and dislikes about school. In order for students to feel that the information is relevant to them, teachers should make connections and relate to real life examples. Michie uses his past classroom experiences to connect to his students and further sparks class discussion. Michie would try to relate to what the students were going through in their lives to get to know them better.
Willing to receive and learn from feedback and suggestions. I always observe to seek out the new experience, reflect, and responding to children’s need or help other teacher when they need. Before planning activity for children, I look for which activity that children are interests in and what area of learning
All students have the possibility to learn and with the proper experience, they will focus. There are many different ways used to build respect and a positive rapport with students. One that has always work is helping the students feel comfortable with the environment. When the environment is positive and comfortable to the students, the student tends to worry less and be natural. Building a positive rapport is not easy and it takes time and dedication.
Her communication skills helped empower me with confidence needed to execute my task. If she not for her walking me calmly through that procedure I would have missed out on my education. I was lucky enough to do that task two more times and felt comfortable while executing that task. Conclusion
Teachers have the power to determine whether their classroom will be a caring atmosphere or an authoritarian environment for the students. Teachers need to curb their ego and model empathy, positive attitude, and leadership skills. She believes that if teachers use positive attitudes when dealing with difficult students, the students will respect the teacher more; therefore, the students will have better behaviors. Showing empathy toward the students will result in the student feeling like someone understands them. Creating relationships with students helps them feel safe in their environment and comfortable talking to the teacher.
The teacher has a positive attitude towards her students and teaching. She smiled, she took time to say hello, and asked how their weekends were. During their conversations, she would maintain eye contact with the students. During instructional time, she was prepared for the upcoming lesson and follow-up. She showed a passion for teaching through the energy, drive, and cohesiveness of the classroom.
The teacher reacts with the children to keep them interested and moving. Some of the time the children just likes to sit in the teacher 's lap and not get involved with the other children. One day, Mrs. Lauren sat on the rug during sensory play and two of the children wanted to sit in her lap while the other children wanted to play. Sometimes the children seem to get out of control. Mrs. Lauren always makes sure that she handles the children with love and care.
