The Great Depression was a deep and harsh downturn in the economy and market. The stock market crashed on October 24, 1929. This was an economic crisis of very small activity of business nationwide in the U.S. Many Americans were in a widespread of agony and despair. The New Deal was made during 1933-1938 which is a series of social liberal programs. The purpose was supposed to help clear the mess of the Great Depression by making the programs made for different subjects. This deal relieved many Americans from their troubles. However, some people did not understand how it improved America’s conditions. While some people believed that it strengthened the faith in the system. The CCC hired city dwellers to work in America’s national parks, forests, wilderness areas, and the countryside (textbook 778). The CCC didn't just provide jobs for those who needed them, but this program also conserved the nation's natural resources (textbook 778). This is great because it's a win-win situation for both America for its environment for and America for its citizens. It is great for the environment because workers are helping reserving many national parks and forests by not wasting them away and having them preserved. At the same time, citizens with no jobs and no way to provide themselves and their family, got a job from the program. These people are gaining money and working while also helping the environment. In the document, the CCC provides a picture of people working and helping provide for the environment (document 7). The picture shows workers in the forest or maybe a soon to be forest preserve pushing a wagon of sticks and …show more content…
However, the NYA was effective in the New Deal, because it helped and supported children. The NYA was an effective program in the New Deal, especially for Native Americans. The NYA created a position of the Director of Negro affairs to a woman named Mary McLeod Bethune. She was very passionate about African American rights(link). In the Document 12, the NYA states that their program helped boost families and their income so that their children can still learn in school. The quote in the document states that although the children is working hard, they believe that it's a good program because gave teenagers a chance to work for money
The New Deal was intended to boost morale, decrease unemployment, and regulate the economy; however, it was only a temporary fix and ultimately failed. It left the nation with an incredible amount of debt while unable to fulfill its main purpose of increasing employment and bringing confidence in the economy to the public.
The Civilian conservation Corp gave healthy young men from the ages 18-25 work such as planting trees, building dams and bridges, preventing forest fire and floods. They were also given three meals a day and got payed $1 a day. The WPA also helped make jobs for people in building roads and public buildings such as schools, parks, playgrounds, and airports. They also painting murals on buildings, and gave jobs to artist, writers, and actors. The FERA made it so the federal govt gave money to the unemployed(sources F,E,G).
The Great Depression, which set its sights upon the US in October of 1929, ravaged the American economy. High unemployment, a loss in corporate profits, along with a trend in deflation caused the longest lasting and most severe depression in US history. FDR sought to combat the depression through a program of government sponsored attempts to provide relief for the population, recovery of the economy, and reform of financial institutions so that an incident such as the depression would not repeat itself. While the expansion of the role of government initiated by the New Deal programs were effective in reforming the flawed institutions of the US economy they were only somewhat effective in providing relief for the masses while providing little
The CCC was established in 1933 as the U.S. sank deeper and deeper into debt. The Civilian Conservation Corp contributed to the end of the Great Depression by creating jobs for the unemployed, educating those employed, and by supplying the workers families with money. The goal of FDR’s New Deal, which created the CCC, was to create jobs in the US and the CCC had a major role in that. Over its nine years of operation,
America has a long history, dating back all the way to 1776. The very first president was elected in 1789, but one of these historical figures stands out above all the rest. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt saw a problem in America and did everything in his power to solve it. He has earned so much respect from American citizens that he is the face we see on a dime, which is worth 10 cents. Although he seemed like a great president, not everyone is perfect and he still made some mistakes.
The New Deal changed America forever. The New Deal was a set of federal programs financial support from the government to respond to the Great Depression. The Great Depression caused widespread panic throughout America and it was caused by consumers spending less money, industries failing to produce and sell products, and the unevenly distribution of income. Through all of this tragedy, President Hoover’s philosophy explain that the economic cycle and the government is not responsible individual lives. The term is called “Rugged Individualism” which was the idea that people can succeed through their own effort.
Especially true during the 1930’s when unemployment was twenty five percent and almost thirteen million people were unemployed. Of those thirteen million, sixty percent of them were below the poverty line. The new deal focused on recovery and relief. It tried to balance markets by limiting production. The new deal was very practical rather than theoretical and dealt with things sensibly and realistically.
The goal of this act was to provide work for employable people on the relief rolls, have a variety of relief programs, and to provide grants from the federal government that helped projects of agriculture, arts, construction, and education. The Public Works Administration Act was created to provide employment, stabilize purchasing power, and help revive the economy. The Civilian Conservation Corps Act was also another act passed in 1933. It's goal was to promote environmental conservation and to build good citizens through vigorous, disciplined outdoor labor. Franklin supported this act because he believed it would keep youth off the city street corners.
Another example of the new jobs that were being created are the Civilian Conservation Corps, which lasted from 1933 to 1942. These camps hired nearly 3 million unskilled workers to conserve and develop natural resources. A lot of these men were young between 18 and 25 and came from families on government assistance. Projects involved fighting forest fires, planting trees, building wildlife refuges, and a ton more nature related activities. The CCC not only allowed people to get jobs but also made people get out there and enjoy nature.
The Great Depression was a terrible event; something that no one saw coming. It killed the spirits of the American people, except, for the 32nd president of the US, Franklin D. Roosevelt. He implemented the New Deal, an act that helped to save the America we know today. The New Deal was a massive success! Not only did it raise the spirits of the US, but it also lowered the unemployment rate, and fed the starving children all around the nation.
The benefits of The New Deal was that it restored people's confidence in america. It helped people believe that the new deal will help then get out of the great depression and that all the people would get their jobs back and live the way they used to. “The New Deal changed the link between the American people and their government”
The New Deal was successful because of gave jobs to many jobless people and ending the banking crisis. A newspaper article said that U.S banks are unstable. People go to the bank to get their money. The banks don’t have enough money to give to everyone. Police are called in to keep peace.
Many people wonder what the New Deal really did for the American people. The New Deal was a series of national programs proposed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The New Deal programs happened during 1933-1938, right after the Great Depression. The New Deal had a very positive effect on the people of America by creating new jobs, gaining trust in banking systems, and getting freedom from the effects of the Great Depression.
How far was the New Deal a turning point in US history? The New Deal was made in response to a set of policies by Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) to combat issues caused by the global financial meltdown of 1929, initiated by the Wall Street Crash. This decade long historic financial downturn has been identified as the Great Depression (1929-1939). The New Deal focused on what people refer to as the ‘three R’s’:
During the Great Depression many people lived in poverty, more than 20% of the people were unemployed, but President Roosevelt implemented programs to help Americans prosper. The Great Depression is when the America’s economy had fallen to its lowest point. Many people lost their money and it’s when poverty hit rock bottom. The New Deal was necessary because even though it didn 't end the Great Depression it helped lowered unemployment, secure their money, and helped the economy prosper. In its attempt to end the Great Depression, the New Deal had many successes and failures
