In total there are fifteen regional offices for investigative GBI agents. At each office, there are two supervisors, one of them is Special Agent in Charge (SAC) and the other is an Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC). When requested, these regional offices work felony criminal investigations. Additional to this, they investigate criminal violations by the state or its, departments, bureaus, and commission or authorities property (Regional Investigative Offices, 2012). Furthermore, Regional Investigative Offices (2012) explains that there are Regional Drug Enforcement Offices (RDEO) that operate separately than the fifteen regional offices. There are four RDEO in the state of Georgia they are Canton RDEO, Middle Georgia RDEO, West Metro RDEO, and Savannah
Tim Bosma Case Tim Bosma was a church going, fun, and caring a son to Mary and Hank Bosma, a husband to Sharlene Bosma, and a father to a five-year- old daughter (Adam Carter and Nil Koksal, 2016). The FBI changed the game when it came to be in the early twentieth century. The Bureau of Investigation was founded in 1908 by Attorney General Charles Bonaparte. It started with only thirty four men that were former secret service agents that were brought together by Bonaparte. They changed the view in the government and on local police forces.
Introduction The top two and most commonly used programs for reporting and tracking crime statistics in the United States are the Uniform Crime Reports, UCR, program and the National Incident-Based Reporting System, NIBRS, program. Each program contains data from crimes and incidents that is tracked, analyzed, and reported by different law enforcement agencies from the reported incidents. While the UCR is the most commonly used, many law enforcement agencies are working towards shifting to full participation of NIBRS. Both programs use similar methodology to create reports of their crime based statistics, but still contain varying differences.
That unit was established by Watkins’s office in 2007 to review and investigate claims of innocence and other old cases. (Gross worked with the conviction integrity group and suggested the project that eventually resulted in Phillips’s exoneration.) As part of the ongoing effort to review untested rape kits — without waiting for the convicted people to request such reviews — evidence from the 1990 rape was run through the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System, which identified a different person as the actual rapist, Watkins said in a
History: The Georgia Bureau of Investigation as we know it today has changed and evolved over time which has only been to make the GBI better and more effective in its operations. Before 1937 there was no state regulated law enforcement agency. It was established by Governor E. D. Rivers request in 1937, however, upon its initial establishment, it was known as Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS). In the beginning, it had two different divisions.
Firstly, I was assigned to the ROIC in 2006 where I learned the basics of Intelligence Led Policing and the dissemination of sensitive data. At that time, in the early days of the ROIC, I utilized the SIMMs system to disseminate intelligence data to detectives in the field. Secondly, on the Special Projects side of our unit, we have access to all NJSP databases and are constantly tasked with producing reports from those databases. These reports can cover a range of topics from Use of Force analysis, racial profiling, Misconduct, etc. These types of reports can be considered "intelligence" as it relates to the inner workings of the NJSP and mitigating risk.

When an individual is accused of a crime, there are numerous steps the federal criminal justice system must take in order to serve righteousness. The steps through the federal criminal process are: investigation, charging, arraignment, discovery, plea bargaining, preliminary hearing, pre-trial motions, trial, post-trial motions, sentencing and appeal. The investigation of a crime can begin in various ways such as an officer observing a possible drunk driver speed on the highway, a 9-1-1 call stating there have been shots fired in a neighborhood or even a person stating they’ve been subject fraud. Once the investigation has begun, there are many agencies that staff criminal investigators to accumulate and provide information to attorneys in the respective district of the crime.

Criminal investigation is the process of discovering, collecting, preparing, identifying, and presenting evidence to determine what happened and who is responsible The preliminary investigation includes all the activities that an officer performs when he/she responds to a crime. The officer is responsible for responding immediately and rendering aid to those that are injured. While the officer responds and renders aid, it is important for he/she to note important facts by either writing it down, contacting dispatch, or taking mental note. These facts include the position of the victim or injured, recording spontaneous statements, paying attention to unusual actions or activities, and an assessment of the crime scene. I know it is out of order, but I believe the second and most crucial step is to secure the crime scene.
In the criminal justice system, there are three major components. They are the police, the courts, and the corrections. Each one of the components has a role to play in the system. The police are in charge of arresting and investigating crimes. The courts are charged with the responsibility of punishing offenders while the corrections implement the court rulings.
For years the media has portrayed private investigators as a fictional character such as Sherlock Holmes, or Magnum P.I.. but in all reality that is not the case, most private investigators work for clients in legal trouble that need them to find something the police haven't been able to find or aren't willing to. Private investigating would be a good career choice if solving problems and trailing people is something that is interesting then become a private investigator. But if danger and hard work are not interesting then don’t. The reason for writing this paper is to inform the reader about potential questions and general information they might want to know down the line if they plan on becoming a private investigator.
