Every night, 365 days a year the sun sets in Key West is a part of someone’s night. The light goes out, but the city is still awake. Everywhere in Key West there is either food, art, or someone showing off a cool talent. The hot humid days turn into cool humid nights. The stars and moon come out and dance to the music. The stuffy, gentle salty breeze chills me as the night goes on and goosebumps cover my arms as wind flows through my sundress. Upon entering the pier, I view the vast ocean, the rippling water swishes onto the docks creating a beat like drums. Along with that I can hear the crowd cheering and giggling like hyenas. I see vendors selling fresh coconut milk out of brown hairy coconuts. I also see lots of creamy, melted ice cream,
Time. 10:19 p.m. South Florida. The traffic light rests at red for an eternity, mocking me with its condescending gaze. I quickly turned my head both directions, not a car in sight for what it seemed to be miles.
At first, I followed the edge of our property line until I came to a little trail in the weeds that looked like it been made by a deer or another good-sized animal. It descended gently down the escarpment at first, but then I had to quicken my step as it became a little steeper, eventually taking me right down to the Genesee River. The river itself wasn’t as wide and as deep as I thought it would have been, and in spots it looked like you could cross without needing the aid of a bridge, the water perhaps coming up as high as my waist. But that was most likely because it was August and the heat wave we’d been experiencing had the area gripped in a drought. I had followed the river’s rocky shoreline for a little ways while listening
This summer, my church took a missions trip to Puerto Penasco. It wasn 't the easiest trip to plan, seeing we only had two months to plan for it, and pay for it. Yes, this trip was spontaneous, and we worked very hard to get the money for it. It was a hot day when I and the rest of the missions team got out of the airplane in Phoenix, Arizona.
I grab the midnight blue, Marshall’s branded cart by the entrance. After fifteen minutes of rummaging through dozens of clearance racks and inspecting clearance furniture, my mom and I go to the checkout line. Twenty feet away, a white, metal basket holds a pile of leather wallets by other stands full of cheap, packaged candy, knockoff jewelry, and otherwise useless penny grabs. We walk towards the stand and rummage through the lot, holding them up in the air and looking for the other’s approval. Not too long after, I find a $20 Tommy Hilfiger wallet.
When I Went To Florida I went to Florida after 4th grade in the summer. When we went to Florida, Jaxon my sisters, brother came with us. The night before we left he stayed at my house. When we left the next morning we left at 3:00 A.M. While we were on our way we both had to sit in the very back of the car because my sisters came with us. The ride there was not fun at all.
I was born in New Orleans, but raised in Brooklyn. For several reasons my parents decided to leave NOLA shorty after my birth. From then on, I was raised in New York state; more specifically Brooklyn. It wasn't until the age of sixteen that I finally returned to my home city. My parents had just divorced and for that reason, my mother no longer wished to stay in New York.
My girlfriend works in a clinic in Atlantic City that provides health care and social services to people with no insurance or have limited means of support. There are more places in Atlantic City that provide free health care, food, shelter, addiction and social services than anywhere within a days ride of the city. People drift down here from all over of the state, even outside of New Jersey, for a cot and a meal. After its decline in the 1950s, the city has attracted alcoholics, people with mental health issues, and those just down on their luck. Maybe it was the ocean and faded glamor of the city 's boardwalk and hotels, or the abundance of cheap housing and corner taprooms.
The first time I went to Mackinac Island was a truly unforgettable experience. Lots of people have always told me “We can’t go, we can’t fit the wheelchair on the boat.” But during last summer in August we decided to go Mackinaw City instead. I was super excited for it, I don’t why I had been to the city parts a thousand times over. That and I was sick as a dog with an unexplainable cold but that didn’t stop mom from saying “okay we’re going.”
I smiled gently as my feet sunk into the warm sands of the Punta Cana coast. During a short snorkeling expedition on the magnificent coral reefs, I was abruptly awoken by a loud series of bangs. Who was outside the door this time of night? As the banging got louder, my anger quickly morphed into terror. My mind began racing with the infinite possibilities awaiting me outside the safety of my bedroom.
What started as a thrilling new adventure for American trapper and hunter Sanger Rainsford quickly became a nightmare. On Friday April 15th, 2016, Rainsford traveled to Ship-Trap Island, a small spit of land off the coast of the Caribbean, along with family friend Whitney Johnson with the intention of mounting a hunting expedition in the Amazon. After going up onto the afterdeck and hearing a gunshot, he ran to the railing to see what was all the commotion. He had climbed onto the railing to get a better view and quickly lost his balance, subsequently being thrown into the bitterly cold waters.
I never knew going to Miami would make me want to travel the world. Chirp, Chirp, Chirp as I look up to watch the black lovely birds past me. While I am running on the beach , I look up to see the sun cast its golden rays down upon the cloud turning them bright, fired red. It is 6:30am in beautiful Miami, and I notice the splashing waves, breeze and seagulls. The beach is a place where people come to enjoy the ocean view and relax in the sand.
Coming to Miami I can still remember that gloomy sky on October 21st 2001. It seemed like a normal day to me, yet that day would change my life forever. I remember my mother rushing around the house trying to gather my brother’s clothes while I just sat on the floor observing so much commotion around me. For an 8 year old, I was a very hipper child. I ran around the house, climbed trees, sat on the roof top which was 3 floors high.
My Trip to Florida It was a cold winter night in Upstate New York. My mom and dad were enjoying a cup of coffee, my sisters were playing video games, and I was editing a few pictures on my computer. My mom brought up the idea of a vacation. She said” We haven’t been on a vacation for a long time”.
Waking up in a beautiful ocean front hotel room with the sun shining through is my idea of wonderland. Opening the balcony and automatically smelling the salty ocean is one of the many amazing parts. Wonderland has beautiful beaches, wonderful food, and unforgettable memories. The sound of waves crashing on the shore fills the air.
Tonight I finished packing for my trip because in the morning we would be leaving our house in Yorba Linda to go to Las Vegas. Every year, for summer break, we go on a big vacation. This year my parents decided that we would spend our month long trip in Las Vegas. This trip doesn 't compare to our trip to Orlando; but, I am glad that I am going to leave the house and visit someplace else.
