Fund space exploration? Why should Americans do that? There are far more first world problems to deal with. I do not believe American people should continue to find space exploration. There is poverty all around America. Space exploration is just so costly, and Americans need that money for living, food, and house rent. The Government should be helping all people throughout America. There are millions of people in poverty, poor, because of their race, gender, age, or in general but honestly their race, gender or age shouldn’t even matter when they are people too that need a living . “Race and gender play an enormous part in determining poverty’s continuing course. Minorities are disproportionately poor: around 27 percent of African Americans, Latinos …show more content…
“The space station costs upward of $100 billion, yet it's critics call it a 'station to nowhere’” Others actually do believe that the space station should be kept because of the interest in what’s outside of the earth and what it can communicate with outside of the atmosphere. Plus for others they would find it awesome to be able to go outside the earth even though they are not even astronauts. “It costs $500 to $700 million everything's the shuttle flies. Billionaire space tourists have flown to the space station at a reputed price of $20 million per head!” So if someone rich is interested in going outer space then they can. “A ticket on the spaceship costs $200,000, which compared to the current $69 million it currently costs to get into space with the Russian government, represents a good deal.” Yes, it does represent a very good deal other than spending millions of
... We will spend an additional $9.8 billion to incarcerate our fellow Americans"(Freidman 16). With this absurd sum of money, you could buy a plane skip the private jet, a 747 to yourself. But, what if the government had this extra money? They could add to NASA's annual budget and possibly fast-track the Mars expedition.
Space programs such as NASA, its many contractors, and universities help people get and stay employed. NASA puts out information concerning how many jobs a particular project produces. Here is an specific example: in 2012, a NASA administrator published a paper about the Mars Curiosity rover project. “It’s also important to remember that the $2.5 billion investment made in this rover project was not spent on Mars, but here on Earth, supporting more than 7,000 jobs in at least 31 states,” he wrote. Jobs are quite literally the lifeblood of American capitalism and when a program is creating 7,000 jobs and producing valuable products how can we as the United States justify cutting
Schools, hospitals, roads, research, those sort of things right? Well maybe. Or maybe it’s being spent by mad scientists who are turning people into mindless killing machines or deranged paranoid men implanting listen devices in fluffy cats. Maybe your tax projects are funding secret government projects that you aren’t supposed to know about. It’s happened before which means it’s probably
Have you ever thought about space exploration? Do you think we should spend our valuable resources on it? Some people believe that we have a genetic desire to explore space. Although I believe that is false because our ancestors were doing absolutely fine without exploring space. We should not spend our valuable resources on space exploration.
I read that the average earnings for American workers is less than $500 a year. I also read that in 1900, 26% of boys between 10 and 15 years old were in the work force, and that women do not have the right to vote. Clearly America has some work to do. So now that I have a better understanding about the problems in America, I know who to give the money to. I have decided to give the money to child labor, to food safety, and to Deforestation.
The first attempt and success to climb Mt. Everest occured in 1953. Since then, almost 4,000 people have been able to scale the mountain, but over 230 people have not been able to climb it successfully. There is a chance of accident or death when climbing this mountain or any dangerous activity. All people should should have the right to rescue services even if they knowingly put themselves at risk because there is always a chance of an accident happening, rangers are there to save people in danger, and there are rescue vehicles being produced to be used in case of an emergency.
Don Hendrix Professor J. Boyles Eng-111 20 April 2017 Is Space Exploration Worth the Cost? Since 1969 when Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin, and Michael Collins landed on the moon, space exploration has intensified in the recent days with the developed countries competing to send astronauts into space. The US government allocates billions to space navigation each year to fund the scientific undertakings needed to make the entire process a success. The overarching question in the whole phenomenon is whether the benefits accrued from these space voyages are worth the expenses put in them.
The author that wrote the argumentative text, Leaving Main Street, stated that, “The cost of exploration is vastly outweighed by the idea of extending humankind’s sphere of influence to outer space.” (120) The author is saying that the expense is well worth it, so that we can expand our knowledge about space. The author Mary Roach, stated in her argumentative text Packing for Mars, “It might not be that hard to raise the funds. If the nations involved were to approach their respective entertainment conglomerates, an impressive hunk of funding could be raised.”
Royalties on NASA patents and licenses currently go directly to the U.S. Treasury, not back to NASA,” (Vernikos 65). Clearly, space exploration is not a waste of
Imagine what you could do with $23 billion dollars, such as improving education, healthcare, and more. Our government chose to put this money towards the Space Race. The Space Race began after the nuclear arms race between the US and Russia. Part of the reason for America’s desire to make space advancements is due to it’s immature competitiveness against other countries, which is costing billions. The money spent on the space race was not a legitimate use of government funds because the money could have gone to more relevant causes, it is extremely dangerous, and exploration beyond earth is unnecessary until we can first solve problems on earth.
Space travel is very expensive. If you take into consideration the food, water, fuel, breathable air and all the parts necessary for the trip, you come to realize that those numbers add up. NASA’s plan for Mars includes a four
Hedman in his article “The Politics and Ethics of Spending Money on Space Exploration.” discusses the appropriate amount of money that should be spent on space travel. He explains that bad decisions, low funding, and unpredicted problems, is the reason our technology hasn 't reached the level that the past expected. Many aren 't satisfied with the space exploration progress. He proceeds next to show what the space program actually does for us,like they provide us with the knowledge of stars, the galaxy and our place in it. Lastly,he wants to give NASA a boost of money to get through transition from flying the shuttle to the CEV(Crew Exploration Vehicle),if we don 't we would be giving the scientists a hard time on judging how much should be spent based on how much was distributed.
Introduction Once a government monopoly, today space travel has now been expanded to private corporations. The resulting pros and cons have left the international community with questions to answer and decisions to make on the use of private companies in space. The privatization of space endeavors have brought on exciting new opportunities.
If Nasa and the Federal Government put more money towards space travel and development we could go to Mars or even farther. Space travel is worth all the research, resources, and time. Space travel takes an abundance of time and it is worth it. Gravity
The government have this funding, but it is wasted on space research. Imagine you own a house, and over the years many parts have become ruined, but despite having the money to fix these problems, it has never been fixed.
