After women gained their independence and right to vote, they were more confident and not afraid of other people’s opinions (Price par. 7). Even though women had gained the right to vote, the discrimination against them did not end (Perry par. 6). Women joined activist groups such as the National American Women Suffrage Association and the Congressional Union, where they protested with different tactics to get what they wanted (Dumenil p. 22). The fight for their rights became known as the Progressive Era. Activists kept fighting for equal rights and opportunities (Dumenil p. 23).
