In 2014, five Queenslanders died as a result of quad bike accidents, and the youngest of these was just nine years old. With quad bikes being a popular mode of transport in rural areas, the Queensland government has taken the first step towards improving rider safety with a helmet law that takes effect November 1, 2015. As a quad bike owner, these are the facts you need to know.

What Is The Law Change?

Until now, wearing a helmet while on a quad bike was at the discretion of the driver, however it was always strongly encouraged by government agencies and motoring bodies. Effective November 1, if you head out onto a public road on your quad bike, you and your passengers must be wearing an approved motorcycle helmet.
