Bell Hooks in her essay talk about some problems such as feminism, civil rights and racism. She also mentions homophobia and how women are seen or projected by social media. This essay shows how black boy were encourage to become preachers and dominate churches while girls were silenced making them to stay at home labeled as annoying because they talk to much. Hooks gives good ideas to help others to have a different perspective about feminism and racism, and the meaning of this to different races and genders. I love how she is able to mix academic writing with her personal experience, and the way she strongly claims that finding our true voice is an important part of liberation and self recovery and is also an invitation to free expression
