As a writer I know that it is necessary to take others ' feedbacks as a reflection of my writing process. Throughout the semester, I take my peers ' comment very seriously because it is the only way to know how good my writting skill is, how professional I am, and what kind of flaws I need to fix. I have used those comments intensively to fix my Issue Proposal essay, as well as my Exploratory essay. I believe that those comments are the reasons help my paper more compelling and effective. One thing I notice is that the comments remind me the errors that I have overlooked. It is always good for me to know what other students see in my writing and help me fix it. I think the habit that hinders my writing is when I write too much or
This may sound a bit out of line, but it is true. Once I began to see writing as a conversation and not a perfect piece of paper I was able to break through and have an epiphany. I was able to express myself because instead of trying to find the right words to say, I was turning my feelings into the words themselves. I was being vulnerable to making mistakes and teaching myself that we are human: the best face to put forward is an honest one. After this breakthrough, I was able to improve my writing by: connecting with my audience, using rhetorical appeals, and learning self-criticism.
I always like to start my writing process with a pen and paper. I write down my main points or ideas so that I know where to start and what to write about. Writing down the points on paper allows me to organize my thoughts and focus on what I am writing. Once I am finished writing my points on paper is when I start to write. I always try to start and finish my paper during the same sitting.
My teacher said she couldn’t get enough of my writing. I wanted to be proud of myself, but it left such a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Soon enough, people started coming to me from help on their work. I helped them with anything they needed. Over time, my peers began realizing their mistakes and begun to improve.
I have come to understand that I struggle when it comes to colligate writing; so receiving help and feedback is
Handwriting was one of my first struggles, in the beginning of grade school. It was always something that was very hard for me and I remember that. I had trouble on how to to write the letters and when I did the letters they ended up being enormous and all messy. I could never get my handwriting neat like the teacher would have.
I am currently a teenager whose writing has developed significantly over the past few years. In fact, my writing was absolutely shocking when I was younger; it was only recently that it has improved. From about year 6, I noticed that my writing was not very good, especially when I found out the importance of using punctuation. Yes, I did not use commas AT ALL. Also, my vocabulary choices were practically always informal, and I was never able to judiciously incorporate effective language into my sentences.
I was not in the so called “Redcoat Land’ of Berlin where everyone was perfect. This surprised me because in all my years of going to Berlin Public Schools no one had ever negatively critiqued my writing. In 4th grade my teacher specifically told be that my writing was unclear and didn 't give enough details. Then in 5th grade, my teacher constantly told me I needed to work on my writing skills even though I won the DARE essay contest for our grade. In Elementary school they would give you scores out of 6, 4 was average and 5 or 6 was outstanding.
I also found a support from the other students in my class. The help from other students in my class moved my paper to the next level, and knowing I can ask the person sitting next to me for their outlook on my paper is reassuring. I have also gained confidence in my writing from my peers’ help. I know I have strengths in authoring my paper and using a mental outline. Therefore, our strengths may be helpful to other students and vise-versa.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
ENG-122 Reflective Essay My writing process has changed tremendously over the course of this class. I feel more accomplished, confident and I feel sometimes that my ideas and thoughts just come in to my mind out of nowhere and I start writing about anything now. I pay attention to my punctuation and grammar more as I have polished them more now, not only when I write but then others write as well. I am constantly looking for errors and I highly think this is helping me a lot in my career.
What does writing mean to me? Writing means getting people engaged in your piece. It means people wanting to keep reading what you wrote. The biggest thing about writing to me is expressing your thoughts and letting your mind go. Using good word choice and having a strong voice in the writing is something that makes it good.
Learning new skills in writing has assisted in so many over ways than just writing for school, it has helped in my career. Writing is such a beneficial trait to hold. I plan to improve day by day. I have so many opportunities available and plan to use to my full
Starting off the year, I was and still am, very intimidated of a college level writing course. Since it was an engineering based writing class, my worries eased up a bit. When I attended the first class I didn’t know anything over the technical communication writing style. Slowly I developed an understanding over the writing style by reading the text book and other supplemental readings. When our group (Construction Management and Nursing) was assigned with the first group project, I was able to apply what I’ve learned so far in the class.
“ I then said that the professional writer must established a daily schedule and stick to it. I said that writing is a craft, not an art, and that the man who runs away from his craft because he lacks inspiration is fooling himself.” (Zinsser 4). Here Zinsser is being pretty clear, when you 're writing, you should look as it a skilled craft not simply art. Whenever I write, it 's for sport, a hobby that I simply choose to take up.
Writing project 3 has shown me the importance of writing something that is of interest for you, an issue that you are passionate about. I think that I have started to get somewhat better at the structuring of my writing and using outlines before I jump into a draft. I am no longer as scared and hesitant to write, as I was the first writing project. I think a good goal that I accomplished from this project was using diverse sources in my writing. I was able to utilize a magazine post, newspaper article and research journals to form my argument and provide support.
