Two-hundred years ago, the “Battle of 1812” took place and fought between the United States of America and the British Empire. I will take you back in time in this research paper because I will be discussing about the Battle of 1812 with summarize details. It was an important part of American history yet it was almost forgotten because it happened when countries are starting to develop its technology and economy. Once we became knowledgeable on how it was that time, we will understand that the battle’s victory must be cherished for the rest of the history. It was a controversial war that lasted for almost three years and challenged the economy of America. It happened mainly along the border of Canada, in the Chesapeake Bay region, and along the Gulf of Mexico. America was defeated and Washington D.C. was molested from fire by the British force. America somehow gained success after the battle in the New Orleans and had their desired peace in shipping after the Treaty of Ghent. The character and courage showed by America had made its way to global success in economy and gained the respects from the European countries. My goal is to be able to explain and discuss the important facts about the “Battle of 1812”, and to make you understand the heritage of that event in the history of America and Great Britain. I will explain it accordingly starting from the time before the war, the reasons of the war, the times during the battle, and the agreement for peace and the victory. America was attacked side by side along Lake Champlain, at New Orleans, and in Chesapeake Bay by the British troops. The fall of America gave British the chance to obtain territory. The British almost had it all in the summer of 1814 when the only defense left of America is in Chesapeake Bay and British troops who won over the battle of Bladensburg marched along the Washington D.C as they burned most buildings including the White House. Fortunately, the family of President Madison managed to flee on the countryside before it happened. After burning the city, the British tried to attack Baltimore just to lose against the defense of Fort McHenry. That incident inspired Francis Scott to write the words of the “Star-Spangled Banner.” On September 11, 1814, the troops of Capt.
