This coming year the United States will elect a new President. One amazing candidate that comes from my home state Texas is Governor, Rick Perry. He deserves your vote because of what he has done for Texas. Rick Perry has improved people’s health in Texas, and has great plans for health insurance in Texas, that can be established in the United States. He has also made the communities in Texas safer and can do that as well to the United States. The best accomplishment Rick Perry has made in Texas, is improve economically and environmental problems in Texas. We need to support our hometown candidate. Rick Perry has made an impact on health in Texas. He banned abortion after twenty weeks and signed the Women’s Right to Know Act, requires doctors …show more content…
‘The number of medical malpractice lawsuits fell by nearly 2/3 between 2003 and 2011, and Texas has licensed nearly 30,000 more doctors since the passage of this bill.”
It helps Texas have more intelligent and experienced doctors to take care of citizens of Texas in medical situations. Rick Perry has also refused to facilitate the government control of health care. Rick Perry has also helped form and pass a clean power plan to limit asthma attacks and premature birth rates in Texas. He has been our Governor since the year 2000 until now and was serving our nation in the Air Force at an earlier age. Rick Perry can make the United States into a safer country. Rick Perry gives people another chance for example,
“Working across the aisle with a judge in Dallas, Gov. Perry implemented drug courts in Texas, which focus on rehabilitation for non-violent, first-time drug offenders. By treating addiction as a disease, rather than simply addressing the crime it compels, these programs help give individuals and families a second

focus on clean energy. More importantly Rick Perry has made Texas the most successful state economy for 14 years. Rick Perry has made so many economic contributions to Texas. Rick added 2.2 million jobs while he was governor, he created nearly 30% of all private sector jobs in America, he has also increased the GDP (Gross domestic product) in Texas by more than 55%, increased national capita GDP by $9,250 and has made Texas the top exporting state for thirteen years in a row. Rick Perry has also made Texas the top state in producing crude oil, natural gas and electricity. Rick Perry has also contributed in helping the environment a better place.
“Statewide from 2000-2012, ozone levels have decreased 24 percent; a 12 percent greater reduction than the national average. From 2000-2012, nitrogen oxide levels have decreased by 62.5 percent. And carbon levels have decreased by 9 percent. All while Texas added 2.2 million jobs and more than 6 million people to its population rolls.”
This is just the beginning, in an article called “The clean power plan” that will be signed in Dallas to help decrease levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It’s a very interesting article that states, “Texas has twice as much wind power as any state in the
After researching the Tulia case, I can conclude that the ruling was unfair due to a faulty justice system and targeted african american people. Out of 46 people that were arrested, 39 were african american. 38 out of the 46 were convicted on drug charges by Tom Coleman. An ex-agent, white male, who failed to submit any actual evidence that can convict them for the charges. 38 people were convicted solely by his word and falsified evidence.
Rick Perry has had experience as a state representative, state agriculture commissioner, and was the lieutenant governor during George W. Bush’s time as governor. Many did not approve of Rick Perry because he “once questioned Bush’s fiscal-conservative credentials”, according to Mark Halperin in “Time”. However, he was one of the longest serving governor in the state of Texas. Rick Perry had a goal to improve the way of transportation because of the traffic that occurs in urban and suburban areas. He also wanted to redistrict so that there would be more Republicans, cut local school property taxes, and increase the state cigarette tax for his first term.
In Texas 250 of the 254 counties, none of the propositions were approved. During that special election only 23 percent of the voters actually voted. It’s rumored that Governor Briscoe warned that adoption of the amendments would result in state income tax, increase cost of state government and overly powered Legislature
Texas Governor and Public Policy The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate my understanding of how the elected Governor of Texas can use the formal and informal powers to influence public policy. This paper is presented into two main segments each with sub-segments.
On April 20 of this year I attended the drug court which is located in the Erie County Courthouse. The Drug Court is intended to promote healthy and law-abiding behavior for its participants. It acts as an alternative for jail and an individual is free to live in the community as long he or she participates in all services, along with being subject to random drug testing.
Overview: The purpose of the Executive Summary, The Multi-Site Adult Drug Court Evaluation: Executive Summary (Rossman, Roman, Zweig, Rempel, Lindquist, 2011), was to show how Urban Institute’s Justice Policy Center (UI-JCP), RTI International (RTI) and Center for Court Innovation (CCI) conducted research on how drug courts impact the overall crimes related to drugs. The main issue being explored is how well the drug courts are doing to help lower crime revolving around the drug epidemic. This issue is significant to criminal justice because it shows that the United States has a serious drug dilemma that started in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s that has to be combated by government and law enforcement agencies. This includes the issue you of whether or not drug courts are actually helping reduce crime.
The Texas Redistricting have been mandated by Texas Constitution since 1876. Base on the Constitution, every 10 years, Texas Government ( or Legislature to be clear) have to redraw the state representative and senatorial district. After the Redistricting in 2002, the Republican and Democratic have been fighting for their additional congress seats. After splingting Texas into 17-15 sears in U.S House Representative, the Democraft won Republician by 2 seats It 's not common for a district to redraw in the middle of decade;
Texas’ executive branch may be unique, but there is a reason that things are run the way they are, allowing for the Texas executive branch to be run in a way that makes its citizens feel both secure and
While being Governor, he assembled a frontier regiment against Indians, expanded industrial resources, and helped to replenish revenue by selling bonds from the U.S.. Lubbock modified the conscription laws so that every healthy man from 16-60 years old liable for fighting in the military. He staunchly supported the Confederacy and it was his main goal to improve the military capabilities of Texas. “He chaired the state military board, which attempted to trade cotton and United States Indemnity Bonds for military goods through Mexico. He also worked with the board to establish a state foundry and percussion-cap factory.” ( tshaonline.com ) After his term, he did not want to be
(1) While all articles are important not all of them have the same significance as others. My top ten most important articles in the Texas Bill of Rights are Articles 29, 28, 26, 19, 3, 8, 27, 6, 24, 32. Listed from most important to least important. I chose article 29 as my most important article because it states that no governmental power can deny the Texas Bill of rights and therefore cannot be violated or ignored. This specific article stood out to me because it keeps the government from making decisions freely without the justification of anyone.
Cristina Briceno Texas Government Section 2306.S21 March 7, 2017 Medicaid and Obamacare in Texas Medicaid and other welfare programs have long been serving individuals living not just in Texas but in the United States as a whole. The Affordable Care Act is another one of those programs that was implemented by former President Obama to help insure the uninsured across the 50 states. While it does have many pros, some Americans believe that it is not working and that it is imposing a burden on those who do not benefit off of any welfare program or the Obamacare. Now, with Donald Trump as our President, one of his priorities is to repeal this Affordable Care Act that our former president had enforced and cut the budget for medicaid; and hopefully
This Texas Government course is my first online class and also my first Honors class in college. I am aware that online courses may require students to do discussion boards or group projects or any other assignments that encourage interactions among students. I expected to experience and improve my teamwork skills and critical thinking. Although this class was about Texas Government, I was looking forward to discussing the presidential election that was held during throughout the semester. Last spring semester, I took GOVT 2305 - the Federal Government- and found myself involved in discussions and debates.
This will bring up the economy of Texas farther and it remains definitely beneficial to the state. A second pro stands that “it brings freedom and a path to self-sufficiency that isn’t available to billions of others around the world who aren’t lucky enough to be born in the United States” (Balanced 1). Students that have been in Texas plus in the United States have adapted to the culture, and have the same dreams identical as an American. They desire to be able to educate themselves and live a better life than what they would have in a different country.
Gun Control: Firearms Illegal in Texas Elementary Schools Today in America, the government is slowly providing laws and policies that reflect a safe society for its citizens to live comfortably. On the other hand, the laws in specific states, are less-limiting by not restricting specific criminal acts. In some states, like the state of Texas, students in elementary educational level can go to school as well as the teachers, and parents can know that they will be safe. In extreme situations, like a shooting, the state of Texas would need to improve the laws on gun control because it is the most effective way to stay safe in elementary schools.
