The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation was established in the year 1972 and its dedication has been solely to health and continues to be a significant charity organization in the United States. It has played an enormous role in supporting programs and research offer support towards solutions to many health issues challenges. The goals and objectives of foundation are kick-starting and setting up initiatives that have been targeting specific areas that need a change in the health sector. Assessing and managing the needs of the health of the population is not a task that can be handled by the government alone. Professionals in the health sector, therefore, had to come together to make available primary and specialty care, coordinated and patient-centered services. However, the health sector cannot function without it workforce, and out of this workforce, nurses make the most significant part of it. Their large number is the reason as to why it is clear that they are the right people to spear head provision of health services in the various settings and continuum that exist. The settings and continuum in question are community care, home care, long-term care, schools, public health, ambulatory care and, most importantly, hospitals. To guarantee that the nurses were well aware of their duties and what is expected of them, their roles had to be clarified (Benner et al., 2009). These states have taken the necessary steps to ensure the report is fully and correctly implemented. Therefore they have played a vital role in assisting the report to reach its goals and objectives. Nurses in the given states are consequently protected and taught on all critical aspects of their profession thus able to deliver quality healthcare to the citizens. For example in the state of Texas, the state coalition has spearheaded some initiatives such as Promoting Nursing Leadership and Transforming Nursing Education. These two initiatives advance the nursing profession as it has allowed for the empowering of nurses in the sense that they can be leaders while at the same time furthering their education and knowledge. However, there have been specific barriers in the state of Texas that have in one or another held back the two named advancements. The most common obstacle is the lack of funds. Lack of funds is dragging back these initiatives and their implementations. To overcome them, nursing advocated should continue holding fundraisers and educating the community on the importance of the initiatives (Campaign for Action). Fundraisers are already being done, but more is needed if at all success is to be guaranteed. Conclusion
