S. 744: The Immigration Reform Act
The Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Reform Act -- or Senate Bill 744 -- was introduced into the United States Senate in April 2013 and since then, it has been a highly important significant bill for both immigrants and nonimmigrants alike. In June, it was passed and it then went on to the House of Representatives. Currently, no formal decision has been made on it, even though millions of undocumented and potential immigrants are waiting for its approval. If the act was passed, border security around the US would become tighter, but all the illegal immigrants currently in the country would have a chance at citizenship. While it would take over a decade after the bill is passed for them

744 — would also assist undocumented immigrants who are in the country, helping the economy in the years after the bill’s implementation. S. 744 would, first of all, help those in the country illegally to become legal citizens so long as they meet the conditions set forth, one of which is not having a criminal record. While it would take many years after the bill is enacted to gain citizenship, it seems that the benefits outweigh the risks for illegal immigrants. By becoming legal citizens, they would not have to fear deportation, which would allow them to get better jobs, pay taxes, receive proper medical care, and generally become more involved in the community. In addition to that, the bill would also help to strengthen border security, while at the same time making it easier for potential immigrants to receive their citizenship. In effect, S. 744 prevents people from entering the country illegally, instead helping them to go through the proper channels to get their citizenship. As undocumented immigrants cannot file taxes with the state or national government, or really take an active part in the community, giving them citizenship would help to boost the economy while generating more tax revenue. This could help the economy greatly, as when a community is more active, it tends to generate more revenue — part of which then goes to the …show more content…
Considering most modern studies like those mentioned above and even the Congressional Budget Office theorize that economic reform would have a positive effect on the US economy, the majority of economic reasons addressed previously against immigration reform are invalid. However, looking at political debates currently occurring, a startlingly large number of politicians use outdated or biased information to argue against immigration reform because of the impact they believe it may have on the economy. This can be dangerous because those “facts” spreads throughout the country, and then millions of people end up believing false
Representative Luis Gutiérrez was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. In his freshman year of high school his parents decided to move back to their home town, San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. Reluctantly, he followed his parents to Puerto Rico where he learned to speak Spanish. After moving back to Chicago, he found a passion in advocating for undocumented immigrants who are struggling to make ends meet due to their status.
The bill intended to discourage the flow of those illegally entering the U.S. and prevent
This position forgets that the labor and the energy of millions of undocumented immigrants that made much of the prosperity of the nation and will continue to reinforce the strength, and the wealth of American society of its culture. Undocumented immigrants are not mainly to blame for the U.S economy. But, could it be many years of unjustifiable wars? Excluded undocumented immigrants from the Reform Act is a purely partial decision because they also provide to the nation. In the new political conjectural about documented or undocumented immigrants; the question is whether to building a wall or deporting all illegal immigrants.
He briefly explains the government's reasoning behind the bill, but strongly shuts down everything they say. The government states “that the bill would “prioritize” skilled immigrants”. Bier instantly says “All the bill will do is cut the number of Visas for the family members of the United States citizens”. Also, the government states “that their bill would prioritize skilled immigrants, the way Canada does”. He then goes on about how Canada and Australia is actually accepting two to three times more legal immigrants than America.
It is something that will improve the country socially and economically. It would resolve so many issues regarding immigration reform and about all of the young undocumented alien minors in America. It is something that would motivate them even, because they have been given a second chance, which is great then. It will empower them; it will show them that you should never give up and that America after-all. These alien minors will become better-educated, higher-earning workers and taxpayers.
Illegal Immigration Reform More than 11.4 million illegal immigrants currently reside in the United States that’s almost equivalent to how many people live in the entire state of Ohio. Most of these illegal immigrants are hardworking people that help the welfare of the economy and the have a high impact on the culture of the United States. The proposition is that Illegal Immigrants who have paid there Tax’s and have resided for more than 10 years, consecutively in the United States should be given a way to get a legal residency. This residency would give them benefits like a social security which would let them get a good job and a license and have basic human rights. Illegal immigrants deserve these rights because they create the most business,
The birthright citizenship has caused many problems for America. So, they country needs to take steps to help solve this problem. The next two years might be the best time to pass legislation like this because of the Republican control of the White House and Congress. They would do their country a favor if they abolished birthright citizenship because of all the damage it has done to America. The government needs to kill the incentive to break the law.
President Obama’s immigration reform bill would keep five million illegal immigrants from being deported, but Republicans are saying the Obama Administration tried to bypass Congress in trying to change the immigration policies. The executive order from Obama will go to the Supreme Court for a ruling. If it passed, this immigration order would allow undocumented parents of children born in the US, who are US citizens, to get work permits and stay in the country as long as they do not commit any crimes. Immigration advocates feel this is the humane thing to do. (Bredemeier)
As Senator Charles Schumer, Upfront, 2016 has made clear, “we turn away too many people who want to enter the U.S legally”. There are people who could create jobs, invent new technologies, and boost our economy. Senator Schumer’s point is that as we turn down immigrants, we are turning down opportunities for the U.S to be a better place. Plus, they would pay taxes, just like any other American would. They are adding to the economy, which is why they should be allowed to become a citizen in the U.S.
Immigration reforms have recently been a brewing topic within the media and has caught many people’s attention. This issue has brought multiple political figures and opinions into the spotlight, each accompanied by a plan and part of a political agenda. Central American immigration into the U.S. still remains unsolved despite the efforts of President Obama, who had promised a comprehensive immigration reform. Some believe that America was built upon immigrants, and that smart immigration practices will benefit the economy and the nation as a whole. However, others feel that immigrants hurt the nation by limiting the number of jobs available to Americans, and bring crime and public insecurity.
Some of the questions Americans should be asking are: How does the deferred action policy differ from previous immigration policies, how was it set into motion, and how will the changes impact America short term and in the future. The United States of America was formed, even before it was a country, by immigrants. Well before the Constitution was written, there were people looking for refuge here. The colonists were not the first to migrate from elsewhere.
Immigration is one of the largest controversies at hand with politics and America in general today. Amnesty is the best option both for the 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States and for the United States economy. The punitive requirements against immigrants were added to legislation to insulate it from criticism that amnesty is forgiveness without consequence. Immigration helps everyone, and Congress should be doing everything in its power to make it as easy as possible for immigrants to live and work legally and freely in the United States
Our policies on illegal immigration can diminish the problem by enforcing immigration laws, revoking birthright autonomy, and demanding proof of citizenship when applying for social services. Immigration has become a major problem in this country and needs to be restricted. Our economic implications would be beneficial towards the U.S. economy. Without the crutch of illegal immigrants holding us back, our U.S. economy can prosper more than ever. Due to the current economic slowdown, labor demands had been reduced and has forced many out of work.
Reason #1 and Evidence One of the reason stated is that this law allows immigrants to be legal here if they've stayed here for 5+ years. This is important because 4.2 million immigrants have been here for 5+ years. In Obama’s speech he stated, “If you've been in America for over 5 years… you will be able to stay in this country.” Even though this new
Illegal immigration has helped in the nation’s economic growth by enabling businesses to prosper as the illegal immigrants have provided cheap labor and long hours of hard work. Businesses benefit from illegal immigration by saving a large amount of money since they are not providing insurance both medical and retirement plans for their illegal workers. This results in a lower production cost for the companies and lower prices of goods and services for everyone. Although illegal immigrants may not contribute directly to the economy of the nation in the
