Adams, a Great Man! Before taking this class I had only every studied history in high school, and like most I had a vague idea of the events that had passed. After ready thru the units and the other reading assignments my perception of the past has changed greatly. At first I had a hard time trying to find a figure of great importance on which to write my assignment on, but once I read of Samuel Adams and the unbelievably great things he did for this country my choice had been made for me. He was a great man and a true patriot. He would be a key figure in the starting of the revolutionary war and an asset to the U.S. even after the war. He was a pathfinder of his generation and great leader of men, inspiring not only his state but many others to follow him in his rebellions and eventually the war. I had never …show more content…
Social media can spread a story life wild fire and take it all over the world. In Adams time thing were drastically different, Information took much longer to be passed and most information was censored. The creation of the committee of correspondence would become a powerfully tool of the colonies. Samuel Adams himself would be the founder of the first committee of correspondence in Boston the fall of 1772. I myself, tend to steer clear of social media and even certain new cast, but I imagine in those time people did not have many options. They look to the news from these committees to know what was going on in the country. I believe that by doing this Samuel Adams became a key figure in the war to come and would even go as far as to say played a large hand in the winning of the war. In any conflict I believe information is key to a battel, these committees set up by Adams spread inland and carried the words of the patriots to towns all over the state. The American colonies would greatly use this resource during the war against the
1. Samuel Adams established a committee of correspondence and formed a communication network between Massachusetts towns that stressed colonial rights. The burning of the Gaspée roused other states such as Virginia, Connecticut, South Carolina, and New Hampshire to set up their own committees of correspondence that would communicate with other colonies. 2. The committees sprang into action after the passage of the Tea Act, which relieved the British East India Company of paying taxes on tea it imported to Britain or exported to the colonies.
He was successful, decent looking, a strong speaker, wealthy and a great leader. Without him, the United States might not be like it is today! As a matter of fact, we might not even be free of England right now. You never

In Samuel Adams: A Life, author Ira Stoll begins Adams’s biography with a prelude explaining the purpose of his book: to describe Samuel Adams, tell why history has largely forgotten him, and serve as a reminder for why we should remember him. On the whole, Stoll is true to his promise; he writes of Adams’s life, pulling accounts from Adams’s contemporaries as well as using excerpts of Adams’s personal correspondence and his numerous newspaper publications. Stoll’s research is evident in that he includes the opinions and research of other historians and Samuel Adams biographers. Stoll’s biography follows Samuel Adams from childhood to death, and thus essentially tells of the origins and formation of the United States. The biography is compelling,
From the reading of John Adam’s diary it is profound to infer that God no longer engenders men at such a high caliber in such ways that he once did when creating the founding fathers. Adams’s diary truly portrays his thoughts and words express his of virtue, morality, religion, education and his dreams. He wanted to read more and set out to read more of the ancient Greeks writings and works from Latin authors. Its admirable in the way in which Adams’s kept a diary and wanted to push himself to what he knew he was capable of.
Over a period of 240 years there has been 44 presidents and the U.S has had both good times and bad times and that all depended on who was running the country and what choices they made when it came to crisis and many other difficulties. John Adams was born on October 30, 1735 in Quincy Massachusetts. He studied at Harvard and received his Undergraduate and Master 's degrees. After receiving his degrees he became a faithful lawyer and was chosen to help draft the Declaration of Independence in the year of 1774 while also serving on the first Continental Congress. In the year 1797 he was elected as President and served until the year 1801 and is one of the United States Founding Fathers.
John Adams became known because of his opposition to the stamp act in 1765. His opinion stated "American colonists of the basic right to be taxed by consent and to be tried by jury of peers". Couple months later presented a public speech in Massachusetts stating the invalid act. In 1770, Adams agreed to represent the soldiers in Boston massacre. He believed that every person deserved defense.
During the Revolutionary War, America needed a leader. He possessed the perfect mix of qualities, such as “patience, self-discipline, administrative abilities, willingness to work hard, and faith in the American caus.” His troops were green and lacked supplies and cohesiveness, but
In The Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation by Joseph J Ellis, the founders of America-Washington, The Adams, Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, and Burr-are discussed and examined from top to bottom. He goes back in time and goes over the events that took place then, explaining to the reader how the decisions the leaders made created the ripple effect that it had on the current time period. Periods in the timeline such as Washington retiring from The Presidency, The arguing between the North and South side over African slave trade, and the issue of the countries national debt are examples of what he discusses. As the book progresses, the reader is given a chance to view the timeline of events from a modern perspective, and
John Adams John Adams is the one of the most interesting person in the Revolutionary War. He had a huge impact on the Revolutionary War. He helped make the Declaration of Independence. In 1774 he served in the first continental congress. He was the first vice president of the United States and the second president.
Alexander Hamilton (2004) is a detailed true story of one of the most important figures in American history. It is based on Hamilton’s early life. As a politician, as a revolutionary war hero, and the first treasury secretary, Hamilton dedicated his life and intellect to unifying and strengthening the United States. Hamilton in truth did perhaps more than any other one person to secure the power of the American Union. Though he was never president, he was a hero deemed as a true founding father, title he kept till his death.
John Adams made a great impact on American society by being one of the people to sign the Declaration of Independence. However, Thomas Jefferson left more of an impact, because he more than doubled the size of the United States, and was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence. Therefore, Jefferson had more of an impact on American society. John Adams was the 2nd President, and the very first vice president, making it impossible to not be influenced by him. He was also the leader in the Continental Congress.
These roles were important at the time, because the men involved eventually would bring us to freedom in America. I believe that the men are portrayed in the texts as being influential and intelligent. The texts portray them as people who have made an impact in our country, as they serve great value in our historical timeline. Though Jefferson and Adams both participated in the writing of the Declaration of Independence, it was unfortunate that they had both died 50 years before the day of the Second Continental Congress was approved in July 4, 1776. John Adams was also close to George Washington, and they would often spend time together as good friends.
Building a new country takes bravery and courage. In this time period (when the U.S. was very trying to stand on its own) many famous political figures helped organize and support our country. One man was John Quincy Adams and he was going to be the president. He did not always possess the strength needed to keep our country going, but some great advice from his mom, Abigail Adams, helped. Adams used many rhetorical devices in her letter to her son to explain how trials and struggles can mold a man into a hero.
