Scoring in sports Whenever you attend any kind of sporting event, it always helps to know as much about that sport as possible. One thing that everyone should know about a sport, are the points that are associated with the sport. For example, baskets are the points in basketball, and touchdowns are the points for American football. However, just knowing the points of games are not enough. Some points in games are far larger than others. Not in their actual in game value, but within their significance and timing.
