Our lasting memories of mommy are simple: she was phenomenal, a hardworking, passionate figure of strength who never waned in her support or love for God and her family, and who soldiered on, even when times were tough. She remained faithful even unto death and has left an indelible mark on our lives which will remain permanently etched. We will always remember these encouraging words that would be repeatedly echoed by mom:
• Put God first in everything we do.
• No matter how hard life is, there is always a better day coming.
• Always evaluate the possible consequences of your decisions.
• Never allow people or your circumstances to define who you are.
• Always bless your

She is the type of person that is willing to do anything for others before she would even think about doing something for herself. Kind, giving, and compassionate are only three words that could even come close to doing her justice. She gives more than she takes; she is a giver. She gives the reader both physical and emotional descriptions of the main ones. Mama is an apparently a laid back and very caring human being. One feels the motherhood radiating as she sits outside waiting for Dee. Any person who has been away from home will know the feeling of coming home and having a mother waiting. Even as she is waiting for Dee, her brain is still on her other daughter who is home and who is emotionally distraught.
This has helped her overcome so much heartbreak, from losing my dad, my sister, and my brother to her own health issues and through it all her faith has never been shaken. I look at my mother with nothing less than amazement. After my dad had his heart attack and could no longer work my mom never failed to provide for all her children, we didn't have a lot but we always had enough. This made me such a humble and grateful person, and I never take anything I have for granted.
In “I Want a Wife,” an essay by Judy Brady, the author argues that the roles of a wife are unfair and more demanding than a husband 's, thereby they are treated as lesser than a man. Brady supports her claim by, first, introducing herself as a wife, showing her empirical knowledge; secondly, cataloging the unreasonable expectations of a wife; finally ending the essay with an emotional and thought-provoking statement, “My God, who wouldn’t want a wife?” Brady’s purpose is to expose the inequality between the roles of a husband and of a wife in order to show that women do not belong to men and to persuade women to take action and spread feminism. Based on the sarcastic tone in “I Want a Wife,” Brady was writing to feminists in the 1960s in order to rally them to create change.
Women in the 1890s were expected to work at home to keep their husbands comfortable and bear him children. Kate Chopin wrote most of her short stories during this time period. Her stories “A Respectable Woman” and “A Story of an Hour” show a female protagonist who want their freedom and control over their own lives. Her characters pushed the bounds of the roles that society gave them and showed the brutal reality of how women were treated in the 1890s. In “A Respectable Woman” the female protagonist Mrs. Baroda is married and lives on a plantation with her husband, who invites a friend to spend a week or two with them.
My Definition of a Hero A hero is “Any person admired for qualities or achievements and regarded as an ideal or model” (“Hero”). When someone hears the word ‘hero’, they most likely think of firefighters, police officers, or soldier. However, the person who comes to my mind when I think of a hero is my mother, Becky Harper. She goes above and beyond each day, displaying characteristics of a hero.
In spite of the tough love, she was a very friendly woman. My mother loves working with children and telling jokes. When I was
