There are many similarities and many differences between these three battles. Let’s discuss the similarities first. The battle of Marathon has some similarities with the Battle of Cannae. One example was in which the armies formation. The Athenians formed a crescent like formation, just like Hannibal’s army in the Battle of Cannae. Both described the formation as wings. The weakest in the center, and the stronger men on the outside, the wings. This was like Hannibal’s plan in the Battle of Cannae. He had his strongest men surrounding the Roman’s, trapping them while the kill the weaker men, thinking they have the advantage. Both Hannibal and the Athenian general were very creative and very militarily smart. They knew sneaky ways to win battles
They believed by training their young at such a young age that they would be the strongest military force there was. (Document H) School was very different for the children of Athens, they did not only educate them in military but in the arts. At the age of 18, Athenians began military training while the Spartans started exceptionally sooner. By doing so, Athenians were prepared for both
6.24: What has been mentioned are all the ship level tactics that the ancient Greeks especially, and other peoples as well, used. There were also fleet level tactics and strategies that were used by the Greeks. One was called the ‘periplous’ (sailing around). This entailed suddenly sailing to the right or left or both, of an enemy fleet with two groups of one’s fleet to encircle or outflank the enemy and attack in the rear where they were most vulnerable, while a third group would attack from the front as a holding force. There was the ‘diekplous’ tactic (which was derived from the word for ramming, as previously mentioned), in this case the tactic was referred to as ‘sailing out through’.
The reading, “Cannae”, tells the tale of the Carthaginians’ victory over the Romans at Cannae. The Carthaginian army, led by Hannibal, defeated the Roman legionaries despite being outnumbered two to one. In the battle of Cannae the wind was a major factor in the defeat of the Roman at the hands of the Carthaginian army. The wind was at the backs of Hannibal’s attacking forces. This aided Hannibal’s plan since the wind would help his men with their arrow, javelin, and sling attacks by increasing the range and velocity of the projectiles.
There are many similarities and differences between the Alamo and the Goliad Massacre. Ranging from content to people they differ. From an outcome side, they are similar, yet extremely different. Both battles have affected how Texas is today.
That there were terror and confusion in Rome because Rome didn’t have a good defense, like the read says “ two consular armies annihilated, both consuls dead, Rome left without a force in the field, without a commander, without a single soldier.” Also Hannibal acquire two italian provinces, Apulia and Samnium. I can interpreted from the text that people in Rome were scared that Hannibal will attack Rome for his revenge victory. Also they didn’t have a good communication on what was happening and were Hannibal was attacking. Like in the read says: “ It was not easy to work out a plan: their troubles, already great enough, were made worse by the lack of firm news; the streets were loud with the wailing and weep- ing of women, and nothing yet
The books that are being compared and contrasted are both about The Civil War and what these soldiers went through. Each book has a few differences that separate them. The books are based on the same time period so they are going to have a lot in common. The books describe what both characters had to go through during the war. The differences in the book will show you how each soldier went through the war differently and the similarity’s will show you how it was for most of the soldiers in the Civil War.
There are two major differences and similarities between Hannibal crosses the Alps and North Korea’s Underground Railroad to Thailand. Firstly, Hannibal and North Koreans are both journey across the country. Hannibal and his army were crossed to southern Europe and the Alps against Rome. In the same way, North Koreans emigrated from North Korea to Thailand.
This description can be collaborated with the fact that the depredations of the Peloponnesian War were occurring within the Grecian domain, between the two ancient Greek city-states. These were the Delian league of Athens and the Peloponnesian league Sparta. Reflected in the building’s metopes, Silverman (n.d.) denotes
(Document 5) This technique would bring fear to the enemy of what could happen to them if they were to be captured. The behavior of the Mongols is not barbaric but instead they use strategic ways to make their empire
Athens, like most Greek cities, had been divided into tribes based on descent. This gave aristocratic families a natural way of securing influence, because relatives tended to stick together. Cleisthenes completely reorganized the Athenian State into a new, artificial, and rather complicated system. In his system, the basic unit was the deme, the village in which one lived. These demes were then put together into thirty somewhat larger units called trittyes.
Compare and Contrast The American Civil war and War world two might have been separate wars but they were similar in many ways. Though they were separated by many years both wars had new technological advances, new weapons and new stargetys.
“ Get away from her!” I pressed the pause button and lowered the remote to the mahogany coffee table. I slowly sipped my concoction of tea and honey, that supposedly was supposed to melt away my illness. I gripped my mug tightly at the thought of having to go back to school after a week of true bliss, well besides the fact that I was enterally dieing and could barely breath from the snot clogging my nasal passages. I sighed as I arose from my fort of blankets and pillows to pop in Alien 3, probably my least favorite from the quadrilogy, due to the lack of everything.
DOK Level 2 – Question: Summarize how Spartans laid the groundwork for military principles used in the modern world. One of the ways the Spartans laid the groundwork for military values used in the modern world is when the 300 Spartans stood up against the Persians at the Battle of Thermopylae, which symbolized selflessness, which is used in the military today to show bravery, honor and responsibility. The second way that Spartans
The Roman armies used to be comprised of volunteers but after being defeated, they were determined to make their army better. They did this through vigorous trainings. Roman soldiers called legionaries, were forced to march for long distances carrying heavy loads. Every year, senior military officers, called Tribunes, would select the strongest men to be part of the army. In the end, the Romans became professional in fighting and had one of the most disciplined armies.
