In the story “The Most Dangerous Game,” Rainsford was guilty of cold blooded murder when he killed General Zaroff. Rainsford is a man that fall off a boat and landed on an Island called “Ship Trapped Island.” Rainsford heard a gunshot so he knows someone else is there. This when Rainsford mate General Zaroff, General Zaroff is a man who got tired of hunting animals so he hunts humans. Rainsford and General Zaroff ended up in a kill or be killed situation. The definition of murder is “to kill someone unlawfully and with premeditation.” I think Rainsford murder General Zaroff. I think he did because there was no reason to return to the mansion and kill Zaroff except to exact revenge. Rainsford had already escaped Zaroff, although there was really
Rainsford was justified in killing General Zaroff. During the time Rainsford is in Zaroff’s house they have a conversation about hunting. Zaroff tells Rainsford about him hunting humans. Rainsford says, “I can’t believe you are serious, General Zaroff. This is a grisly joke...........
Rainsford Killed General Zaroff Rainsford was the most justified in killing his enemy. He was more justified, because General Zaroff bought an island just to hunt people. Zaroff first helped them by feeding them, giving them new clothes, and letting them stay in his house, and sleep in his bedrooms, that he had in his mansion. After a few weeks later by letting them stay in he will tell them that he will hunt them down and use their head as a trophy by the success he made. Zaroff had killed many innocent lives, just for the fun of it.
“The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph,” said Thomas Paine. During “The Most Dangerous Game,” Rainsford had to survive three nights as prey for General Zaroff. Rainsford, though, was only able to live due to the setting serving as a solution to the conflict. At the very end of the narrative, Rainsford’s options become increasingly more limited as time progresses. However, he is able to jump off of the large cliff and regain his freedom.
Count Zaroff is a calculating killer, not only of animals, but people as well. On the first pages, when he and Rainsford were eating dinner, Zaroff is watching Rainsford eat in this new habitat Zaroff has put him in. Zaroff asks rainsford “perhaps you were surprised I recognized you... I have read all books on hunting in English, French and Russian” (Connell 45). When Rainsford goes up to his room, there are pajamas and new clothes already out for him in his exact size.
In the story Rainsford says to Zaroff, “Hunting? Great Guns, General Zaroff what you speak of is murder.” This reveals how in “Most Dangerous Game” Rainsford thinks that Zaroff is strictly killing people for self pleasure and fun, which is far worse than anything that Montressor did. Others may exclaim that Zaroff got caught which makes him less of a villain because his plans failed. This is by no means true because the author, Richard Connell, does not directly tell the reader if Rainsford made it off the island to tell of what Zaroff does.
Sometimes killing people could be for a good reason. Rainsford slaughtered General Zaroff because of self-defense. This short story demonstrates that Rainsford killed General Zaroff for either self-defense or murder; however, it strongly relates to self-defense. Sometimes people have to protect themselves and others protect them from everyone
Both Rainsford and Zaroff share common passions, skills and ideology. Initially, there is admiration between both characters, but their similarities become the cause of the conflict. Rainsford murders Zaroff and has put an end to the murderous human
In the short story The Most Dangerous Game, the author Richard Connell shows that Rainsford needs control of his emotions, patience , and expert hunting and decision making skills in order to defeat Zaroff. Rainsford needs to gain control of his emotions to outthink Zaroff, who symbolizes Rainsfords "steep hill". When he finds that he is going to be hunted his natural instinct is to run and panic, but then he stops to look around and get a grip on the task at hand. Then at a critical moment when Zaroff finds him in a tree, Rainsford panics again because he realizes Zaroff is on his trail and is toying with him. Once again, he gains control of his emotions and formulates a plan.
General Zaroff is different, to say the least, in Richard Connell’s book, “The Most Dangerous Game.” Rainsford is stranded on a deserted island, or so he thinks. Rainsford comes upon a mansion that is owned by General Zaroff. He knows of Rainsford, who is a renowned author of a book about the hunt, as well as everything and everywhere Rainsford has hunted. General Zaroff is also a hunter, but he goes to the extreme.
Although, now it seems that Rainsford has adopted General Zaroff's cold attitude toward killing humans, so if Rainsford has changed, it was not to a better person but to a worse. From first no sympathy for animals to no sympathy for men. One way it seems that way is he kills Ivan with no pang of guilt. Some might say that's not murder that's just self-defense. But if that's the case then why does Rainsford after claiming victory and safety from death go to Zaroff's room at night and kills him.
Rainsford is justified in killing General Zaroff because Zaroff wanted to
“The Most Dangerous Game” Essay In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell A man named Rainsford hears a gunshot and falls off a boat on to which he was traveling upon. Rainsford swims to this island to which he heard the gunshots, once on land he walks around and finds an unusual sight A mansion. Murder is the premeditated killing of one human being by another. Premeditated means think out or plan (an action, especially a crime) beforehand. Now do you think that the killing of General Zaroff was justified? In the story “The most dangerous game” Rainsford stated “I’m not a murder” but can self-defense be perceived as murder? In regards to the Rainsford vs. Zaroff situation, it is my belief that Rainsford killing General Zaroff, was not justified.
Rainsford started as a sane human being who changed after coming to the island due to Zaroff’s influence. All this happened because general Zaroff lived in a secluded area and no one was there to stop his barbarity. By living on an island, he was able to carry out his games and practice his savagery without
Rainsford also had to kill Zaroff to be able to sleep in the bed. When he says he's never slept in a better bed, that is kind of demonstrating he was happy that he killed him and he got to sleep in the amazing bed. This quote was from the end of the story which goes along with my claim that he changed over the whole story. In each of these situations, he either is okay with murder or not. By getting a quote from the beginning, middle and end of the story, it
