Simon Lord Of The Flies Essay

In the book The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Simon would be the best leader. There aren’t an immense amount of qualities in Simon that some might see as leader material. He’s different compared to the others, though all the boys are unique in their own little way, he stands out the most. Maybe it’s because of his independent like personality or the fact that he is rational and uses logic before he lets his imagination get the best of him.
There’s a lot of symbolism in The Lord of the Flies, and Simon represents the religious aspect in life, for example; morals. Which means, like I stated above, that Simon tries to keep others in a good or for better words civilized society. Simon is eager and he pretends to be less than what he is and what I mean by that is he takes less credit than he should. He isn’t what one would describe as direct, but when things need to be taken care of and fixed he won’t let it slide. He’ll be upfront about it and take care of what needs to be done. What really matters is what’s going on within and what they’re intentions are. A lot of people choose leaders based on the looks, because they look big a buff and will be able to “protect” them, but that’s obviously not always the case. Or sometimes, they may choose someone out of fear, I feel as if they did that with Jack because he was so intimidating and rough about it. They might think that the person looks strong and hard to tear down, but in all reality they’re scared and are quick to back down. I’m referring to Ralph and Jack when they confronted the beast and completely flaked. Simon almost shows almost no fear, the only fear he shows is the fear of what’s inside you because a lot of scary things aren’t necessarily in the outside
