In 1957, Southern Illinois University (SIU) open its two campus in Alton and East St. Louis, Il. It was not until 1963 that groundbreaking steps were being made in 2,660 acres of land to establish what is now known as, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUe.) In 1965, SIUe campus opened Peck Classroom Building and Lovejoy Library. SIUe is located in the metropolitan 25 minutes East of St. Louis, MO. Today, SIUe has more than 14, 235 students enrolled, which is a record-breaking enrollment for the university. SIUe offers different majors in more than six different schools such as, arts and science, dental medicine, engineering, pharmacy, business, education, health education and human behavior, as well as, the school of nursing.
