The play Antigone is in no way bound by a specific time frame. The powerful messages that it conveys can be applied to almost any time period. For example, two of the most prominent themes were the follies of pride and nationalism. Combined, these two elements drive Creon's stubbornness and, by extension, the entire plot of the story.
